Download AVI Mux Gui, it can combine a video, audio and subtitle file all into one AVI file- I believe that's what you're looking for.
    edit--
If you require any help using the program then don't hesitate to ask it's pretty straight forward anyway.
BTW You'll also need DirectVobSub to be able to see the embedded subs.
Here's a different but easy to follow guide- http://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=272736

supports srt, sub and ssa IIRC and yes you drag where you put the video then click generate after highlighting the video one. For some reason that method didn't work for me- as of recently- and if it doesn't work for you either then the link I provided above will definately help (but it will take roughly 5 hours).

SubC will convert any sub format to another or you can try Subtitle Workshop- neither is neccessary if you want to combine with .avi.

I suggest using the second method either way cos' you can't go wrong and virtualdubmod should be able to handle any sub format and also combine them with the avi file provided you follow the belowcombine them. If you didn't check the other guide then here it is:
    [bold]Requirements[/bold]:
Around 6 hours for the whole process.
    VirtualDubMod- http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=VirtualdubMOD
    VobSub- http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=VobSub
    DivX codec- http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=DivX_5
OR Xvid codec (upto you)- http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=XviD_Codec
And finally VSFilter- http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=VSFilter_DirectVobSub (Install it and then copy the VSFilter.dll to the plugins folder under the Virtualdubmod folder).

    [bold]Method[/bold]
    1) Do a full install of VobSub and all the other downloads.
Open up VirtualDubMod and then go to File and Open your avi file. If it gives a message about VBR then click "NO".
    2) Then click on Video-->Filters-->Add now here- depending on your subtitle file format- if your subs are in srt, sub(text), smi, ssa format then click on textsub, if you have an idx/sub/ifo subtitle add the VobSub filter intead. Now click on open and select your subtitle file. Then click OK and OK again.
    3) Now go to Video-->Full Processing Mode.
    4) Click on Video-->Compression and select either DivX or Xvid (depending on which one you downloaded at the start) and click OK.
    5) Finally go to File--> Save As and save your combined .avi file, this will take roughly 3-6 hours to make the finished .avi file. Once done, test out your video to see if the subs are combined (this method should work on whatever format subs you have)

Strange..that shouldn't happen- size should only increase when you're converting it into a DVD but when you combine the files the size should only have a few mb difference.

    edit--
Which codec did you use and also, did you tamper with the save settings? Also don't worry if it's not done- it happens sometimes- wait for it to finish and see whether the size has gone back to normal or not since that's when it will be compressed.

Did you install VobSub and VSFilter? Make sure you do. and when installing VobSub make sure you install the TextSub part too when it asks.

    hi

    yes I did.

But I still have to load the extra **.dll manually.
Then I can select TextSub in the Window.

If I do this I can process a new *.avi file included subtext.

But I cant understand why the new *.avi file is so big.
The size is 37 gb. Yes 37 gb.

The input *.avi file is only about 350 mb.

    Should it be so?

The size shouldn't be a problem, make sure you follow the video compression step (I suggest you use the Xvid codec instead of DivX). The size will be big WHILEprocessing but the end product should be around same size as original or smaller.

    hi darkhadou

The final size is 37 gb.

I have used Divx codec, because I tried another project, where I have dowloaded a Divx player and a a Divx codec.

So I havent installed Xvid or Divx from the link you wrote.

Maybe I should uninstall the Divx codec and install Xvid??

Download using the links I gave, these aren't the type of codecs you think they are, these are actually ENCODERS which allow you to encode into the format. The codecs you are mixing up with are codecs that allow you to VIEW/ Play the video file. So no need to uninstall, just download the encoders from the links I gave.

    hi darkhadou

    now everything is working.

    1. I installed the Xvid codec.

    2. I installed VobSub again ,incl TextSub option.

    3. (The output *.avi file, is smaller than the input.)

    thanks
