BIOS PASSWORD PROTECTED.........??

    Hi all
    Ive got an oldish laptop Win XPhome...which was given to me,however the bios has been password protected and im unable to reformat the harddrive or any thing come to that.

    Any ideas how to remove the password would be great.

    you can usualy reset it to factory default via jumpers on the motherboard or just pop out the little coin cell battery for a few minutes.

    edit: sorry just noticed you said laptop, not sure about that.... sorry.

    on the bottom of your laptop... take off the ram cover and look around the edges there, it may be a little yellow covered one there... or just try contacting the manufacturer

    Try all the previous methods posted b4 this one...


    If nothing works, unplug the laptop, and the battery in the laptop, and let it sit there till the CMOS battery in the laptop dies, hence erasing the bios password.


    Slow method, but hey if you really want it gone and dont want to hack into the laptop, try it.
