since my comp is 4years old i was looking on the net for any upgrades i could do to keep it going a little longer. anyway eventually found a site to see if my bios could be updated and they have just replied that they can offer an upgrade for $30 i was just wondering if this would indeed help me any input would be greatfully recieved.
I would not trust anyone who was trying to gouge me for $30. It is doubtful that the BIOS update will do anything but kill your mobo. If the manufacturer of your motherboard doesn't have a BIOS update, live with what you have, or build a new computer.
thanks for the reply granpabw i didnt explain it properly i was directed to the site from the maker of my motherboard(american megatrends).and i didnt know whether it would improve the performance of my my comp. but i guess maybe i should go with the old addage if it aint broke dont fix it! thanks again for your input
tommy, american megatrends did not make your motherboard but made the bios for your motherboad. check the computer\motherboard manufacturer to see if there is a bios update available
found the name of the motherboard maker it was as rock found their bios update page and there was updates but they seemed to be support for amd semperon and mine is an athlon so i think ill leave it alone in case i make a mess of it thanks ddp i guess i need to look closer at things before jumping in
