BT friggin sucks.......No it doesn't m8, I am downloading now at 130 on a 2 meg adsl line. You have to configure the client properly to get the best out of it. If you are not capping your uploads then no wonder you have very slow downloads! All of your bandwidth is being used by the uploaders. Have a look around the forums for advice and you will soon be downloading at speed.
ive followed other people's so called "advice" on how to configure bit torrent and it still doesnt work- its shit. and MOST of the time it DOESNT EVEN CONNECT.
Hehe, ok m8 it must be shit if you can't get it to work. How come I am downloading @130 then? It doesn't connect if the tracker is down, you should check the tracker status before trying to connect. I would like to see you try to get your files in the days before these clients were around, when you had to do a bit more than just point, click and download.
who the hell is m8? anyway irc works better and doesnt need me to TURN OFF MY FIRE WALL- and works- maybe because you are downloading popular crummy files?
Too many viri on irc, you don't need to turn off your firewall to use bittorrent. Also I didn't realise you weren't downloading popular files, why didn't you mention this? If no-one else is downloading the file you won't get any decent speeds going. Maybe you should just buy this unpopular stuff you are after. You're bound to get it cheap if you're the only one after it, hehe. Anyway hope this helps "m8".
m8? well some of the stuff i dl cant be bought like rare animes that arent released hear and the like- some times i actualy get bit torrent to work- but most of the time it doesnt even connect like i said earlier
yeah that is what I've been doing. what happens is it goes up to 43%(where I am up to) then starts downloading but it does not add to the % or the size of the file!
Perhaps [bold]Dela[/bold] could prepare and post a tutorial on Bitorrent as he did on LOWID on eMule. How about it Dela. from what I've read so far, it would be most helpful to us. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]The older I get the better I know how to utilize my time.[/small]
[bold]Dela[/bold]: Never mind about the tutorial. I found this one on Low Torrent downloads by [bold]CamDog[/bold]: Bitorrent configuration with Linksys Router by CamDog: first off, you need to find your routers ip address so you can log into it and work with its ports. to find your routers IP, do this 1. Go to 'Start ---- Run' and type in 'cmd' 2. this opens a black 'dos' screen, don't be alarmed. type ipconfig /all 3. you will see some information like this your routers Ip address is going to be the 'Default Gateway' and in most linksys cases, 192.168.1.1 4. You need to go to a web browser, and type in that ip address where you would normally go to a website, like this 5. you will be prompted for a user name and password, and if you have linksys, and never have been here before, it will be user name : admin password : admin 6. You will need to find the area that says Port Range Forwarding and go to that screen, it looks like this. 7. As you can see, i have added in the ports for Torrent files, 6881 ~ 6889. You need to do the same, allowing those ports that are used for high speed downloading, into your computer. IMPORTANT. In that previous picture, you need to make sure you have it forward to YOUR INTERNAL IP ADDRESS. To find this, look at the screen shot that is in DOS, that you used to find your routers IP address, and look for 'IP Address'. On linksys, primary computer, it should be 192.168.1.100 anyways, save changes, and that should do it. Hope this helps out, I have to go because my wife just got home from work, and wants me off the computer /sigh If you go to CamDogs post he has graphics of the router forms used. Installed and going to try it now. Will post results.
Only tried one, i.e. Supernova. Found it rather slow with scant offerings and a hell of a lot of intrusive spy/ad junk (kind of like KazAa)that was placed on my computer. Took me a while, but I finally got rid of all of it. My conclusion as of now is that there is nothing I've found that works better for me than eMule. I've been up to between 85 - 100 download speed since I reconfigured my Router.
I downloaded a game off of suprnova, extracted the files, and burned them to a cd... After installing the game, my computer tells me there is an error in the *.exe file that runs the game. Any thoughts on how I can remedy this? Did I download corrupted files or did something go awry in my subsequent steps? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I have DSL through America Online and a Linksys Wireless Access Point Router so as to share the connection with my brothers. I also have Zone Alarm Pro as my firewall. If I connect to the internet through the Linksys router then I can't even connect to bit torrent. When I go to 192.168.1.1 and then to port fowarding I receive this message "This Advanced router feature is not currently available if you are an AOL Broadband user or if you have the AOL Parental Controls option enabled in the Router." I do not have the AOL Parental Controls option enabled however I am a AOL Broadband user. However before I got the linksys router, I could connect to bit torrent through the dsl modem that AOL sent me. Knowing this I tried this setup. I connect the dsl modem to the linksys router with an ethernet cable. I then connected my computer to the dsl modem with a usb cable. This way my brothers can connect to the dsl modem through the linksys router and I can connect directly to the dsl modem. Now however I am only getting about 1 kb/s for my downloads. I have configured Zone Alarm to allow bit torrent full access and I'm using Shadow's Expiremental Client. Also whenever I have Zone Alarm and bit torrent running at the same time, my connection drops. What can I do about this?
Alright, so I'm new to BT and AfterDawn and i've been reading through the forum on BT and am getting no where. If someone would mind giving my some info on what to download in order to get this thing to work well that would be great. Also i have my XP firewall up and would like some info on what ports i need to open up in order for BT to work properly. On the origial BT Client i am getting 11KiB/s in and 9KiB/s out... don't know the difference between KiB and kb so some help on that would be good too... i also am running TorrenTopia i'm getting 1.42k/s in and nothing is going out right now... So like i said i am new to BT and could really use some good information on this kind of stuff... oh and by the way i am also running bear share which is turning out to be a really bad p2p client... Any other suggestions on another p2p other then bear share.
