Okay...I'm a newb to this forum I know..dont barbeque me too bad I am looking for some help with my bit torrent download problem. I have windows ME, no firewall, no proxies, no filtering software, have AVG antivirus 7.0, I'm using IE 5.5, and connect with a dialup connection. I cannot seem to download bit torrent files. I downloaded the actual bit torrent program and when I tried to download a file I got error "Problem connecting with tracker - (10060, 'Operation timed out')"..So I tried clearing cache on pc, restarted pc, dialed back up to the internet, tried again, same message. I thought perhaps it was the tracker..so I tried some other trackers on a variety of different sites (suprnova.org,torrentreactor.com,etc..), EVERYTHING I tried to download did the same thing. So I tried a different client. Downloaded Shadow's Bit Torrent software, when I tried to download files with it I was having the same problem, got some error saying there was a problem with getting response info...the program suggested clearing temp files, and right clicking on the file and selecting "save target as" and opening it that way..So I did, got a message saying "urlopen error - (7, 'getaddrinfo failed')". I went into task manager and clicked "end task" on anything related to AVG..this did not help. Any suggestions...
You have to let it stay open. If you leave the thing open it will eventually connect to a tracker. I figured that out the hard way too. There are a lot of people talking trash about torrents, but I have been using them for a while, and they are a million times better than Kazaa or any of the other dl places. I have dled a lot of things, and I have NEVER gotten a bad dl. It does seem to take a little bit longer, but I am connected on DSL and always connected, so I just leave it on all the time in the back ground and it doesn't bother me. The best site I have found thus far is http://www.suprnova.org/ It has anything you could want. You should deffinitely check it out. But anyway, just let the download go, and it will eventually pick up a tracker...and the download will probably take a day or so, but it is a lot better than Kazaa in my opinion. I have taken the time to learn irc, and no it was not worth it. I got nothing but the same thing I got on Kazaa, broken downloads, but this time, I got a bunch of retards in a chat room to get it from. It was a complete waste of time. I totally suggest sticking with Torrents, If you guys have any questions about them, feel free to leave messages here and I will be glad to let you in on whatever knowledge I have on the subject.
I am getting a similar tracker error, but i don't think mine will fix by keeping it open: Problem connecting to tracker - <urlopen error(7, 'getaddrinfo failed')> I have had this happen a few times with torrents from completely different websites. What does it mean and how do I fix it?
Hi All, I am using "BitTorrent T-0.2.0 (BitTornado)" and my download speed is stuck at 10k even though I have a 768k connection. I have opened TCP ports 6881-6999, but I still have a yellow icon in the upper left. Any ideas? Thanks!
ya it has been and can someone help me because i am downloading Harry Potter 3 and it gets like 7 kbs and im also downloading a simpsons and its getting like 75-100 kbs, is that just because more people are sharing that?
Re: error msg: (7,'getaddrinfo failed) , on this forum regarding bittorrent downloading problems. Here's my deal quickly, and if anyone can help, or throw any suggestions my way, I'd greatly appreciate it. Either reply here, or if you could e-mail me at zadikow@hotmail.com , I'd greatly appreciate it. OK, I've been using bittorrent for several months, no problems. This error msg just started with me a week ago, and it's constant. It's happening to me on at least 3 different web sites. It's definitely not a case of "the tracker is busy", it's a problem with my system. I've tried a system restore, 2 virus scans, I've been doing google searches, I've been sending out msg's and e-mails, all to no avail. (By the way, I also don't think this is a bittorrent issue, I think it's a p2p downloading issue, but I could be wrong). Things I have not tried yet are resetting my ip address, changing my proxy settings (which in my case,I don't think apply anyway), I haven't messed with the registry. Oh yeah, one other point, which I don't know if it's directly related, or just a strange coincidence. But around the same time that this started, I did get a couple of "error" msgs, something to the effect: your computer detected an ip address conflict, your ip address is being ... ... (sorry, I don't remember the rest). If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated !! Thanks, Ira Z
you can try and check the settings obtain an IP address automatically or add your own to change it its not the best idea to put your email address on display.. its asking for trouble ,
This is my first time posting but...i was so happy.... i was downloading at 400 k/s with bittornado yesterday....well...thats all.... au revoir. ps...i have dsl
Hi everybody, Could someone kindly help me out? WHy does my download stop downloading at 99.9% and it continues to upload only? I mean, why can't the download keep going until 100% when it is only 0.1% far away? Please help, and many thanks in advance.
For VERY FAST downloads on Bit Torrent, try using the client PTC. If you cap your uploads at 2k/s it seems to speed up your download to about 40-60k/s (I've got 512k broadband with NTL) Worth a try.
i thought speeds are on ratio of up/down so if ya cap it wouldnt that make it slower? where can i dl the client though? if its faster im down
hey all i have a bit torrent file and was wondering if anyone knows of any program that i can change the file extention of [BT] to either mpeg or avi Thanks
