    Hi

Can you improve the video and audio quality of a VCD by changing the bitrate to something higher?

No. Video is always 1150kbps and audio is max. 224kbps MP2. Anything else and the clip is not valid VCD anymore -- it might work on some DVD players, but certainly not on all.

    drd is right( as always...lol)..but....
i make, i guess what some call an Xvcd..
it is a vcd but the video bitrate i turn up but you have to turn down the audio bitrate..my vid bitrate is 1246 and the audio is 128.
as long as for a standard vcd the TOTAL bitrate is 1374 it usually works ex:1278 video bitrate with an audio of 96.
but as stated above it wont work in ALL dvd players.
