My friend got a new dvd burner and burned a bunch of discs without realizing the possibility of bitsetting. All the discs he burned are still booktyped DVD+R. Is is possible to change the booktype to DVD-ROM after the disc is burned? If so, how would that be done? Thanks.
squizzle, Thanks for your quick reply. Does anyone know if the SONY DVD+-RW DW-D56A (firmware PDS3) supports bitsetting or a firmware version that does? I tried changing the booktype settings to DVD-ROM in Nero DVD speed and it says changed successfully but it still shows current setting as DVD+R.
You can't change booktype to dvd-rom on a dvd+r after it is burned but you can change it on a dvd+rw after it's burned. I believe the sony dvdrw is booktype capable. You can also change booktype setting useing dvd decrypter. Tools, drive, change book type. I use the lite-on booktype utility foy my litey and benq booktype management utilty for my benq. Some sony dvdrw's are rebadged lite-ons and you can therefore use the lite-on utility with them. Use dvd identifier http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ to check booktype setting on discs you've burned.
