My friend got a new dvd burner and burned a bunch of discs without realizing the possibility of bitsetting. All the discs he burned are still booktyped DVD+R. Is is possible to change the booktype to DVD-ROM after the disc is burned? If so, how would that be done?

    Thanks.

It would have to be burned again. Not all burners have the capability of bitsetting BTW.

    squizzle,
    Thanks for your quick reply.

Does anyone know if the SONY DVD+-RW DW-D56A (firmware PDS3) supports bitsetting or a firmware version that does? I tried changing the booktype settings to DVD-ROM in Nero DVD speed and it says changed successfully but it still shows current setting as DVD+R.

You can't change booktype to dvd-rom on a dvd+r after it is burned but you can change it on a dvd+rw after it's burned. I believe the sony dvdrw is booktype capable. You can also change booktype setting useing dvd decrypter. Tools, drive, change book type. I use the lite-on booktype utility foy my litey and benq booktype management utilty for my benq. Some sony dvdrw's are rebadged lite-ons and you can therefore use the lite-on utility with them. Use dvd identifier http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ to check booktype setting on discs you've burned.
