I've got a huge collection of DVD-+R movies that until recently I only watched on my PC. Now I want to watch them in the living room on a standalone DVD player and I'm having an issue.

Some movies play fine. Most of them play in black and white and offset and zoomed in to the lower part of the screen on my DVD player (Panisonic S29). Everything I put in the player works, but the playback is wrong.

This also happens on other DVD players and on PS2 it says "Disk Error" or "Wrong TV System" or something like that.

Could these movies be PAL instead of NTSC? If so, how do you tell the difference and how do you convert them to NTSC?

If not, what else could be wrong? All of my movies played fine in my old roomate's Cyberhome DVD player (cheap Walmart crap), but the new version of his player is a POS.

    Thanks for the help!!!

    System Info:
    Burner: Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-812S
    Media: Ridata DVD+R 4x, JVC DVD-R 1x-8x
    Burn Speed: 4x
    DVD Player: Panisonic S29

Probably wrong tv system (e.g. playing pal on ntsc). Try use e.g. Nero Info Tool to check disc information. To convert, basically you need to rip the dvd into a popular video format (e.g. avi, mpeg) with e.g. ImToo DVD Ripper, then encode again with e.g. VSO DivxToDVD, then burn to dvd again with e.g. Nero.
