    Hi,

My problem is while playing [bold]any[/bold] game, a little into the game, my screen will just suddenly go [bold]BLACK[/bold]. Its incredibly annoying as you might imagine. And the screen stays black, so I am forced to manually power down the computer using the front button. I tried pushing [NumLock] and it would not turn off ( So I geuss the whole computer freezes? ) I am beggining to think the problem is to do with my video card. Heating should NOT be an issue, because I just purchased a new case with excellent cooling and a 500W power supply. I have 768MB RAM, and a nVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT VGA, and AMD Athln XP 1800+. I am in desperate need of a fix of some sort. I really hope it's not a defect in my graphics card... becuase I dont have the reciept... (I no...)

I posted this subject awhile back, and did a bit of upgrading since then to see if it would fix the problem. Well it didn't.

Can someone please try to help, any suggestions or comments!

    Thanks!

Edit: I am now also thinking it might be something to do with my monitor. I checked its last driver, and the year is 2001!!! I cant seem to find any drivers for it?

from the looks of that system id say your processor sould be letting you down as its only a 1.5GHz processor and im guessing that with that 6600GT you have youd be playing games in high spec... possibly higher than the processor can deal with

Thanks for your reply. Well thats good news I geuss... because the last thing I need is a new motherboard+CPU to finish my build. I will go out this weekend and buy a new Mobo+CPU. Could you recommend a good bundle for gaming? Preferably under $400 CAN. Also it would have to be an AGP board. I really hope once I get this it will fix the problem :D

    Thanks!

Alrite, cool. I see they dont have too much under Mother Boards and CPU's, but is that only because it's online? I hope the store has more stock lol.

Thanks, I'll head over there this weekend.

Edit: Nvm... stupid me, i didnt see the pulldown tree on the side :S

Hmm, Im having a bit a trouble on picking a good motherboard for gaming.
The CPU I wanted to buy was the AMD Athlon 64 3700+, but I dont think it comes in socket 754?... Mainly because all the new motherboards that are 939 are usually PCI-Expres, and I have an AGP graphics card.

Could you help me pick a really good board for games, and possibly a CPU?

    Thanks
