Ok can someone explain this to me. After backing up several discs and wodering why they where playing in monochrome I tried the normal RCA connections as opposed to S-Video. To my ammusement (I have spent weeks recoding, trying different region codes and media types to get them to work) they played in full colour. Im glad that they do but why?
to put simply, if you use rca jacks, like one video and one audio, like most tv out video cards use, it is a trait signal the problem comes when you use a scart adapter from svideo to scart, for some reason when you do this the adapter changes from colour to black and white, strange but true, only affect svideo with an adapter, when you use a proper svideo connection it will be in full colour
As far as I know it is a straight S-Video. I'm not using the scart sockets. Its one lead that plugs into the back of the DVD player and then straight into the front of the TV
thats weird i have the exact opisite of that problem. i have mine dvd player hooked up thru A/V jacks. my pioneer dvd player plays some not all svcd's in black & white but not all. and the ones that do play in black & white play fine and normal on my friends apex dvd player. i don't have any thing that has s-video besides the dvd so i can try s-vidieo to see if that helps. is it just my dvd player?
