Blackmagic HDMI Capture Card

Hi I was looking at this capture card recently and from what I have been reading it can capture high definition inputs and outputs.I was wondering is there a better method to capture high definition recordings from a high definition dvr system.I currently have a DirecTV high definition dvr setup,but am trying to find the best method to get my recordings off the dvr system.I have a dvd recorder,but would like to get my recordings on the dvr in high defintion.
