Alright I was able to figure out how to use AnyDVD HD to rip a blu-ray movie to my HD and then use IMBurn to burn it onto a BD-R disk. However, since the price of BD-50 disks are way too high I'm going to have to stick with BD-25 disks for now. It seems to me the majority of movies out there will be larger than 25 GB which leads to me some questions:

    * In another post someone said that the "fun" part of burning blu-ray movies to BD-R disks would be when the size is over 25 GB and would need compressing. Are there any guides on doing this and is it worth doing? The reason I went to blu-rays is to have the better visual quality so to burn movies that are not at 100% quality may not make sense for me until the price of BD-50 disks go down.

    * In the DVD universe I usually just rip and burn the movie only (using AnyDVD and CloneDVD) instead of the entire DVD. I also get rid of all audio types other than English to keep the size down. Is there a way to do this in the blu-ray universe and can I burn this onto a BD-R disk?

    Thanks for the help!

i'm no expert on this subject but i can help you, which might be as good as you get as this forum is quite slow or people just don't want to help. anyway you can make a blu-ray movie fit onto a blu-ray disc if the movie rip size of the movie is over 25gb, without any loss of picture quality, you take out the bits you don't want, like extras, foreign languages and subtitles and if like me you don't have a true hd surround sound then take that out as it is quite large. you do this by using TSmuxer. the steps i have taken so far, but i still haven't made a blu ray copy yet but i do know the steps and will direct to a good guide.
    1. copy movie to hd using anyDVDhd
    2. load the movie file into TSmuxer (my movie file was in-> BDMV-> stream -> and there you will have lots of m2ts files, mine was no:34)
    3. take out the bits you don't want using TSmuxer and make sure the aspect ratio is 1920x1080p its 25fps and there is a few more bits but read the post I'll direct you to.
    4. this is where I'm not 100% sure but as far as i know both should work, either in TSmuxer output the file as m2ts muxing or create blu-ray disc. then click start muxing.
    5. Again this will work but i have heard some people don't use this method but I'm yet to find out why. after TSmuxer has finished convert the file to an iso file using imgburn (again i haven't got this far as when I'm taking stuff of my movie like audio I'm having trouble knowing what one i need for 5.1 and not hd sound.)
    6. then after the iso file is created you burn that, i read using nero but i though imgburn could do it, again I'm not sure.

i hope this gets you a little further, just read lots and try and follow some guides, here's a good post, read through it, it does get easier.

forgot to mention, to create the iso file using imgburn.

    1. on the from menu click on create image file from files/folder.
    2. under the source tab browse for file or folder depending on which you want.
    3. in the options tab, file system UDF, UDF revision 2.50
4, then chose you destination folder and start, this will create your iso file.

Alright I have performed some burns and here are the results.

I was able to do complete backup copies of 2 blu-ray movies that were on BD-25 disks using AnyDVD and ImgBurn.

Then I was able to grab a movie that was on a BD-50 disk and after snipping out audio and video I didn't need, the movie turned out to be less than 25 GB so I was able to burn this just fine onto a BD-25 disk. I used AnyDVD, BDInfo, and TsMuxer for this.

I tried this method again on Hancock but for some reason the audio didn't come through. I don't think this is a process issue as I think its a protection issue. I read that TsMuxer may not work properly if the protection is still enabled. Maybe AnyDVD hasn't broken this one completely yet.

Anyway, the last thing I need to master is when I grab a movie and after snipping out the stuff I don't want I find the movie ends up being larger than 25 GB. I still am not sure how I would be able to compress this so I can burn it onto a BD-25 disk. I have read some forum posts but the answer hasn't jumped out at me yet.

nice work, what settings did you use in TsMuxer? i'm getting stuck on the audio and output.
i used TSmuxer to load in the m2ts file, i deleted what i think i didn't need and changed the fps frame rate and other bits in the blu-ray tab. I'm stuck on the audio bit. i do not have a hd av receiver so i cant play hd surround. what i left in tsmuxer was:
    "AC3 bitrate: 192kbps sample rate: 48khz channels 2"
now there are 2 of these in there? i do want 5.1 digital surround but what is the channels 2 thing? also there is:
    "PGS presentation graphics stream #0"
there are 2 of these #0 and #1 what are these?
    I did take out:
    "DTS-HD bitrate:1536kbps DTS core + hd data. sample rate: 48khz channels 6"
What do i need to leave in to play 5.1 digital surround sound?

    then i changed the settings.
i tried changing the video output, i kept in the DTS-HD and ticked "downconvert DTS-HD to DTS" but at 96.6% i got an error message up saying:
"reading buffer overflow. possible container streams are not synchronized. please verify stream fps."

also did out put as blu-ray or m2ts?

If you use BDInfo it will tell you all kinds of information about the blu-ray disk including what languages are associated to the audio and subtitles.

Also, I did try using BD Rebuilder to compress a blu-ray but man it just is too time consuming of a process right now. It's really not worth it for me yet. Hopefully it will improve and become easier and quicker.
