Ok guys, girls, tech heads and high definition hackers!

I have a quest and for once I would like to se the power of the internet and have a quest solved.

    So here goes

    QUEST 1

To take an .mkv and produce a BD-RE (blu ray re-writable) that will play in my Panasonic BDP BD30.

So far I am using the latest TsmuxeR to create blu ray, the results have varied from: NOT playing at all, PLAYING with the bottom of the screen blurred vertically and PLAYING with NO SOUND.

I am going to list every procedure I take from now on and I would REALLY love intervention from you PRO's IF you think you can point me in the RIGHT direction!

    SO THE CHALLENGE BEGINETH!

    [u[OK GUYS[/u]

Learning the hard way and trawling tons and tons of forums is an experience in itself!

HOWEVER I HAVE HAD A SMALL BREAKTHROUGH!

I have a 70 odd MEG mkv. sample and have been playing with this for a while and this second attempt has given me a result!

SO I discovered a program called uncropMKV and loaded the sample into it and in big red writing I see incompatible AVCHD hieght!

So i have used this nifty program to downscale from the BAD resolution to a GOOD resolution and then used TsmuxeR to create blu ray and VOILA!

A bit messy but will post the exact procedure when I succed with a full film

    1ST TEST OF FULL MOVIE

STEP 1: Transporter 3 .mkv loaded into uncropMKV

picture of the film drops into window and the rusults at the top right are as follows:

    1280x544

    23.976 (PAL I believe)

    AVI SYNTH: Crop T/B 0

Resize 1280x544(no.... CANT READ THE REST???

Uncrop to 1280x720 (no other option in drop down box)

Change FPS Original (drop down allows NTSC or PAL)

    Sharpen 0

Time at frame blah blah blah numbers (unimportant?)

    X264 Settings

All unchanged various numbers here not played with yet

Major advantages also say that you can load multiple mkv's into this baby and I beleive uncrop them all (great for overnight)

So I now click Cue and the start and a COMMAND window opens and the encoding starts. looks like a long one too 5 HOURS ODD!!! NOT GOOD THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY!!! But for now I will continue just to give me peice of mind that it works, we will find a faster way after hey!

Will report back as soon as It is completed and go through my next stages of burneing etc.

    FORGET THAT!

I cannot site here or even entertain waiting 6 or 7 hours to make a compliant .mkv.

This is utterly rediculous, how on earth can it be so hard to get an mkv to play on a stabdalone blu ray player !!!

I mean come on dvd has NEVER been this difficult!

I wann scream, ok on to PLAN F

    What next guys?
