if you re-install windows from a disc (not a recovery disc) then once it's all working the hard drive will not have been deleted and you can backup the images and then:-

    1) recover using recovery disc

    2) format the hard drive and reinstall windows from scratch

    3) just use it. (you'll have the corrupt windows and viruses on the hard drive but won't be active unless you activate them by double clicking or hitting enter)

    Hi jose07

Your pictures can be retrieved by taking the hard drive out of the computer and by using a separate computer to access the hard drive, the pictures can be copied out of the hard disk.

    Best Regards :D

if everything is wiped out. then there is a chance of using a recovery program to recover deleted pictures but if the operating system has over written the images then they're permanently lost. the only way to retrieve ALL of the images was the way i mentioned before. the chances of retrieving all of your images would be very very very slim. you might be able to recover a few images via file recovery software but that's it. the best way was they way i mentioned which is too late to carry out now. also, i'm sorry but you'd definately need a windows disk as this is the only way it would have worked.

if you take cdavfrews method, you would still need to use the file recovery program method. which i'd say would be pretty much impossible to recover every single file. this is because the hard drive has been completely over written, keeping none of your previous files on the disk. thet're there. but have to visibility to the user and the computer has full permission to over write the files. by using file recovery, the program will find files that have not been overwritten, yet.

using the windows disc now won't help you retrieve the pictures. it can only help you from losing future files now.
