I have a bluegears b-enspirer which has been fantastic for the 2 years i've had it.
    http://www.bgears.com/b-enspirer.html

Problem is one day last week i get to my pc, turn my z-5500's on and the loud volume has practically disappeared. To a point of being about a 1/5th the volume it used to be at similar settings, if i put the volume at 15 bars (max) it plays where it should at about 3 bars on the volume control.

To narrow it down a bit i've tried other powered speakers through the same analog connections i was using for my z5500's and i think those were also outputting a lower volume. I also used my z5500's through my 360 using optical outputs and the speakers played perfectly. I then connected my sound card to my z5500's using optical out about 5 minutes ago and it works just like should. I also cleaned my pc out again and re inserted my sound card and the issue still persists.

So from what i've gathered it seems to be the analog output on my sound card is faulty or messed up?

Does anyone have some ideas i could try out, or know of issues where the analog sound output from the card simply weakens?

And yes i've checked the volume controls multiple times, and have reinstalled fresh drivers but to no avail.

    thanks!

On my last laptop an automatic driver update screwed up my sound, Have a look at the driver and see if you can roll back to a previous version.

    Worth a look any way
