   Does anyone know where I could find a firmware upgrade (or any other method possible) to disable the macrovision for this drive (assuming there is one available)

   It's not the drive but the video capture card that's doing it. If it's an ATI there's one out there at vcdhelp.com or doom9.org (I forget which).
