the old school versions WHY? O because the thin ps2 doesn't have a fan it gets hot to damn fast and when it does it don't want to play dvd movies. Maybe that's just mine. On the old school you can either put a hard drive in it or use the usb the new one just usb. Old school you can put a fliptop The new one the only thing it really has on the old school is that you can take it more places. But i don't travel with my games So my opinion the OLD SCHOOL is better
well i have a ps2 v12 (slim) and i regret getting it, cuz i think the old ones are better. but the slim doies have a fan, just a really small one.
i say that the old school is better. i have one, exploited, 200GB HDD 40+ games, and room for 15 or more, emulators&roms. i have a carrying case from when i had the original playstation, but now it's used for my ps2. so i have my game library with me whenever i travel. old school does rock.
Both systems have issues with overheating, but the new slimline is terrible. Many people have reported the systems not booting at all after playing for several hours, until the console has cooled down for a while. Many of my premod customers want the slimline and cannot be talked out of it - so I recomend to them to buy the vertical stand and run the system vertically, which will disapate heat a lot faster. If you have a choice, go for a v7 or v9 pre-slimline machine.
