    Hi there

I printed out the guide to do booksetting in ImgBurn and was following the instructions, but my dvd drive is a Toshiba SuperMulti Drive. This is not listed in ImgBurn. I downloaded the latest copy of ImgBurn. How do I do booksetting if my drive isn't listed here? It is not in the main tab or the advanced tabs.

Have you tried a burn? Does it work in your player? Have you checked a burn to see if the Toshiba auto-bitsets?

Toshiba, Nec, Pioneer(part of the DVD Forum). They support DVD-R format.
Unless they've changed their ways lately, officially their burners do not support bitsetting for DVD+R(which would make the competition's discs more compatibile with the players). For that, you need modified firmware. Nec is working with Sony nowadays when it comes to burners, so not sure about them anymore.First find out if your burner is actually capable of booktyping DVD+R with current firmware. If not, you would need modified firmware, and most times that can set the booktype to DVD-ROM regardless of the burning software that you use.

My drive definitely does burn to DVD+R. I am not sure what you mean by it can bitset without using the burning software. How would I do that? The driver, etc is new as I only bought the computer recently.

Of course it burns to DVD+R, but can change the booktype of the DVD+R to DVD-ROM with original firmware? That's what you are after, right?

Yes, sorry to be dense, how do I get to the firmware. I basically open ImgBurn and then use it to burn, so where does the Toshiba firmware come into that? How do I set it up?

ImgBurn can help with the firmware update.

Tools > Drive > Check for firmware update

I can't update from within ImgBurn because I don't have an internet connection. I have to visit the library or a friend and then download whatever I need. However, my computer is only a month old, so I don't think this is the problem. I just don't understand how ImgBurn accesses my firmware, or do I need to do something to it?

Burn one of your discs and see if it plays. There is no reason to worry about bitsetting SL discs or firmware updates unless there is a problem.
