Hi! I have Windows XP and I had a partition for OpenSuse which I decided to change to Ubuntu. I used Windows diskmanager to delete the Linux partition. Unfortunately I didn't delete it but only removed the files so that it showed the partition as "free space". The Linux partition used to be the primary boot partition so now I assume my PC tries to boot the free space or something like that starting a Grub prompt. I'm no expert with these things and I need help to get to boot my XP again so I can finish with the partitioning. In a nutshell: XP won't boot, I need help with it. If I need to change some boot file or something, I can access my XP files from the Ubuntu CD.
couple of choices.. you can run the mbr fox from an xp install cd.. or better you can edit the grub boot file to point at whatever operating system you have left. I guess grub is still starting up with it's menu? If so just make the xp entry the default.
No, it starts empty. Of course I can enter boot menu and BIOS but they don't allow to choose the partition... Can I edit it otherwise?
Problem solved. I just needed to use the GParted program from Ubuntu CD and change the boot partition...
