Hi guys. I searched for this thread, but didnt find anything helpful. I hope this isnt a repeat of a topic thats been beat to death, and thank you in advance for any help.

I am thinking about purchasing a 3-2-1 system, however know nothing good or bad about it. I like the idea of no wires running to the rear of the room, and knowing Bose, it should sound good, I hope anyway. I dont need anything super out of the world, but good crisp sound to enjoy movies and get a surround effect would be nice.

    Thanks again

err, look elsewhere. Bose is overpriced, you are buying a name instead of actual performance. Just like people who buy B&O. Except B&O is at lease nice on the eyes.

i wont tell you how to spend your money........ but i will say, i dont like the bose systems. whats your budget like? what else are you looking for besides crisp sound, because you can buy a heck of alot more then for what that unit will cost and get better useability, sound options, and performance........

Back in the 60s and 70s, Bose built some good speakers. But, over the years, they have gone downhill..............
Check some HT forums and you'll find literally hundreds of threads about what most think of Bose.
I agree with buy something else. You can get much better, for the same money, and will be much happier, in the long run!
    Good luck!

my cousin used to work for circuit city, which sells bose products. he brought home one day, training material, things of longevity reports and such. bose's speakers now a days are just below standards. i rememer watcing the clip, they cones are made of paper, and with high continious power, the blew out.
lets see your budget in mind, we can go from there.

Gear was quite the home theater enthusiast and had a good system; I don't know why he wrote in another thread to set a center channel to large...I'm guessing he figured there wasn't a lot of bass recorded to the center channell and he was big on crisp and very present dialog. He would have like your bose link...he hated bose.

i never noticed the home theatre section on afterdawn before .. i found this site was helpful in my efforts to shall we say increase my dvd collection .. just trying to give something back..i have noticed gear seemed to be the man with the answers here .. too bad he's gone i think i would have liked him.. bose sucks .. one of my brothers got sucked into buying the lifestyle sytem .. now every time he comes over he looks disgusted when he watches a movie .. i guess it because my set up costs less and it kicks the shit out of his .. i tried to tell him though but his wife wanted something small to go with the new flat screen $6000 cnd. dollars later they had every yuppie couples dream.. a flat screen and bose system .. if i can stop 1 person from buying bose then my work here is done..

Yeah, gear knew his stuff you would have liked him; not only knew his stuff but was quite the comedian too. Left the site for personal reasons but I'm hoping he returns someday. What type of home theater are you using?

currently i am using a yamaha htr5730 with polk rti8's front and rears, csi 3 center , and paradigm ps1200 sub in the living room. 5.1 . i have unfortunately wasted hundereds of dollars on overpriced monster wiring and cables..but hey it impresses people when they look at it.. monster is another thread entirely..LOL. i am planning to upgrade my receiver to either a denon or hk. not sure which model though. just want something with pre outs so i can give those rti8's some real power... and then add some rti4's or 6's for 7.1 .. its a pretty good entry level system for now .. all squeezed in my 850 sq. ft. condo ..LOL .. my neighbors hate me for some reason.. somehow i manage to get over it though.. anyways as i said i just hope to give something back to this site as it has helped me with my htpc and pc burning and playback problems over the years.

@Burning As: Personally, I cannot say; I've never done my homework on the subject. A former buddy in this forum who frankly did know his business hated them. Perhaps Fcuker can better inform he did post a not so flattering review but I only looked at bits and pieces.

@Fcuker: You've got a nice system! I'm pretty proud of my baby as well; I've got a Denon3805 AVR and mirage all the way around:

@fcuker: I love it...it's awesome. They just replaced it with the 3806 which just came out so you might be able to get it cheap right now. I don't like the remote though but that's because my close up vision sucks...always need glasses to see up close. There are a whole bunch of back lit menus on a touch pad so I can even see the damn thing without looking for my glasses...the nice thing about "buttons" is that you learn to feel your way around and don't really need to see what your pushing...not much of a complaint unless you're al ol' fart like me LOL!

sweet .. i noticed the remote on the 3805 is like that too .. my friend has broken his twice now .. something to do with the mercury switch inside that turns on the backlit part when you pick it up.. i just picked up a harmony remote for half price last week though so i wouldn't be using it anyways..LOL. i think i need to go and look around again this weekend .. is there a cure for upgradeitus? i've been looking to upgrade since christmas .. now i've noticed this morning costco has optoma h31 dlp projectors onsale .. thank god for visa .. it never ends does it? LOL

The 321 system sounds nice for what it is, but it is not worth even one fourth of what they want for it. You should see the inside. The output ICs are basically what you find in a car stereo head unit.

    gerry1.....
Hope your trip was ok. Sorry again, for the circumstances though.
You said you don't like the remote for your 3805. A Denon remote is usually a nightmare to learn. Very big learning curve.

I'm gonna suggest you check out Sam's Club. They sell the Harmony 628 remote. This thing is awesome! We got one and love it! There is a button for "Watch A Movie". When I push that button (with everything off), it turns on the tv, and puts it on the right input (Video 1), turns on the A/V receiver, and puts it in the right mode (dvd mode),and turns on the dvd player. All with the push of one button! It will control EVERYTHING! You go to their site, fill in a form with the model numbers of your equipment, download the info to your remote through the supplied usb cable, and you're good to go.
The remote normally sells for $129.95 about everywhere, but Sam's sells it for $79.95........... It's worth every penny!
