Bottom d0 point wont work

OK a while back some guy got the notion into my head that i should try XBl so I opened up my box to check what mod chip it was so I knew how to turn the chip off. Well being the idiot I am I did not manage to do that but I certainly did (accidentally) pull out the wire from the d0 point. It was soldered to the top d0 point. I didnt mod my box(had another person do it for me) so I searched on the internet of how to solder it back. I found out that the bottom d0point was easier to solder. So i went ahead got the equipment and did it. The problem is that when I was done (followed instruction step by step rechecked it was done perfectly)and when i treid to turn my box on it would turn on and off for 3-4 times then start flashing red and green(fraging). Can some one explain this to me and plz provide a solution or tell me i am screwed(be sure before you say that!) Thanx in advance

P.S I never found out what Mod chip it was although some 1 said it was a fake

 

It doesn't work because the two points are connected to the same trace. You will need to use a conductive pen to repair the lifted trace from the top first. Search for "electronic trace repair" or something to that affect. It's not easy at first, that's for sure.

 

So if i do it the top it will work?

 

If you succesfully rebuild the trace, both will work. Then you should use the bottom one. If you are a new to soldering, neither will be easy to do, but the bottom is easier.

 

How do I know if it really is a "bad trace"

I'm most certain it is, especially if you pulled it off, you lifted the trace with it. Happens all the time, even to the best of it. I have lifted a few, even after years of installing chips. Just look at the point and it won't look like the others. The "trace" has a little metal ring embedded inside, that got pulled out, which is why you can't solder to it until you fix it.

 

Can you please link an article or a tutorial to fix the traces? I did search Google but to no avail.

 

Well I can barely see a ring, and the hole certainly seems smaller in diameter.

 

I am pretty possitive you lifted the trace. Maybe you got some solder splashes somewhere when you tried to attach to bottom D0. Soldering to the board is not for the faint of heart, especially to D0. Check for splashes around the area, other than that I don't know how much more I can help you. You might have to contact the person that did the mod and have them fixer up.

 

Well i think it is broken but can there be any other causes because before it frags it also turns on anf off may that be a sympton of something else

 

No, a frag is on off on off on, green/red flash.
That is the problem.
