Got a really good one. Okay imagine two computers..lets call them the main and backup. Now the speakers are hooked to the main and I want to play something off the backup using the speakers on the main. Now is their a way to do this through a file sharing network? Without have to disconnect speakers and hooking them to the backup?
I have a much easier solution for you: Install winamp on both computers, and there is a really cool winamp plugin that allows you to store and play your files on say your backup computer, but control winamp from your main computer. (assuming they are networked together.) I can't remember what the plugin was called, but I am sure you can find it somewhere here: http://winamp.com/plugins/ I used it briefly a couple years ago and it worked great...
okay not sure if this is the exact one I used, but here is one I just found that seems to be good: http://winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=6182 but as you can see by searching "network" under the plugins section, there are several more to choose from: http://winamp.com/plugins/browse.php?search=yes&filter=C&query=network
I have same scenario but as long as they are networked there is no problem. I open winamp on my main pc then choose add files. It opens a explorer window where I go to my file server machine and load the playlist. It plays as if the MP3's were on the local machine with no plugins to mess with.
right, but I think he wants to play files on one computer, and control it with another unless I've misunderstood.
"I want to play something off the backup using the speakers on the main" I may have misunderstood. Now I'm interested to have some more details ...LOL
I just want to use the backup to play music, but speakers are hooked to the main one. So in essence I wanted to share the speakers just like ya could with a printer.:>
