Hi people. New to the site as you can see.

I am interested in getting a box (im on cable) to watch the FTA channels - ie BBC, ITV, Channel 4 etc... as i really only watch BBC1 and 2.

I dont really care about HD or PVR functionality at the moment either, what im mostly concerned about is the cost as funds are a bit tight at the moment.

I was looking at a Dreambox 500 or a Starview 4 USB with the preference being the DM as ive used one in the past.

Ive only recently moved to Dublin and there have been many changes since my last time here.
Can anyone here tell me if it is possible to access the FTA channels (BBC mainly) using either of these boxes and also recommend a reliable place to purchase?

    Many thanks

yes you can use them boxes to access them channels but all channels except rte1 are encrypted on NTL using nagravision2&3 so you will need to run the latest firmware and turn the emu on on the box

N*L dont do FTA stations your best bet is to get a sky box or Sly HD box as the stations you are looking for a free on Sly and not on a cable box.
If you want to buy a box for Dublin your best bet is a kryptview box as in Ireland this is the best supported box.
