I have just purchased a digivox. I also bought the rs232 female to female connector, and followed the instructions to the LETTER yet still i cant get this to work. the pc simply doesnt seem to make any connection with the box. It always just comes up firmware update fail! i have tried multiple pcs, still the same, I had a look in bios settings to see if everything was ok, all ok. Com port are set up ok in device manager. I have tried in XP, Vista. still nowt. I ned to get this thing working before 5pm else i will miss Celtic in europe!!!! can anyone help??
When you say you are using an RS232 lead it must be a null modem cable. You may have a the wrong type of RS232 lead. They look alike but a null modem cable has a crossover config. The lead you need is similar to this: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6
hmmmm. this is what i bought: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130138944523 is this ok? im uber confused. cheers for reply.
im not sure if thats the correct cable as that is a "Serial Data Cable , you need a "NULL MODEM CABLE" as Scouser mentioned has a crossover config as they both look the same
Thats definitely the wrong cable, it even says it's "straight through". You need a null modem "crossover" cable.
