    Trying to help out.....
I have Pansat 2500 and Viewsat X. Love the Hobby.

My Uncle in Oregon bought a Coolsat 6100P from Skyview (?)
and we thought it would work out of the box.

He has a 20 year old Hughes dish and receiver that gets
minimum channels, as he pays minimum.

In theory, he is pointed correctly etc. He has an RV that he
uses SAT in so he knows how to point.

When he connects his CS, he get nothing. No blue screen no menu nothing. (Video 1, video 2, CATV - ch3) hook up and check all his TV inputs.
The CS lcd starts to run a counter....0001 then after a minute 0002
etc. etc. He is about to send it back....in fact the Tech support
sent him an RMA # (some language barriors :)

I can't find the answer in any online searchs or manuals,
but does the CS6100 NEED a factory reset and/or Bin to work?
I would have thought it would at least ouput a Screen or menu,
even if not connected to the SAT or had a scan.

Any working CS user would have to think back to the first time they used their unit, OR Please Help from experienced Testers :)

    Any Help??
    THANKS

The Coolsat 6100P does require the latest bin to operate. You must first load the factory bin; do a factory reset; then load the new bin; then auto scan for the appropriate sat(s).(DN/Bev)
If you've got channel 100, it's receiving a sat signal.
You can find the required files and instructions on "Bindepot".
The files are very easy to load if you use the USB 'thumb drive' slot.

    THANK YOU, Telecomm

Sure is weird to get static, as if nothing
    is connected.....

But I will have him load the stuff up without a screen.
(one of the manuals for dummies says follow the "Wizard setup"

You'll get a larger volume of responses,(and perhaps more intelligent),if you ask questions on an already existing forum. Specifically, the cs6100 forum. Practically everyone who visits that forum has a 6100 and their own experiences they can relate to you. Usually, if you ask curteously, they are willing to share. If you've time to do some reading:.... The 'last' page is current discussion, but if you go back towards page one, you'll probably find your questions asked and answered already. There is also some degree of Coolsat general discussion on the very top forum ('Need keys' started by Jerry 746).
When I 'started testing' my 6100, I was already pointed right and hooked up right, as I was upgrading from an older model. Never experienced the blank screen or static only.

    Thanks. again, telecomm

after 5-6 years in the hobby, and a member of several forums, i still make those newbie mistakes.....opening a new thread from the wrong section.

I'll rePost in the right area.

However, Anyone interested, I have determined the unit to be defective.
So your specific answer, albeit late, bolsters our findings.
