this is my 2nd 6102 in a month and having exact same issue with the 2nd as the first will not hold a charge for more than 2 days and that is with the phone hardly been used since getting it. Purchased it thru my cell network. They sent me this one to replace and same problem. I even used the new charger they sent with it. Thinking other charger might have been bad so on new phone all new stuff still same problem. Got all the settings set to power saver mode is there something on this phone I am not doing right.
Did you charge the phone for at least 16 hours on the first charge before breaking the charge cycle? The battery has a memory and if the charge cycle was broken within and hour or 2 after the first charge was started, it's only going to charge up to a certain amount.
I followed the directions that came with it and it said a full eight hours....so what do I need to do now?
Take the battery to Cingular and ask for another one. Tell them you followed the charging instructions and it doesn't last long at all. If you are leaving the phone on all the time and it doesn't get the best signal, it will also strain the battery and make it lose charge quick.
