J-Kwons "Little" guide which may make things alot easier for you to digest :p
    I can never get over 115KB/s -
if I'm downloading the number one torrent from numerous it sits around 110KB/s

If I download the top two they sit around 115KB/s collectively (one 70KB/s the other around 40KB/s

If I download three they are also around 115KB/s.

So the sites i have tried (try them for yourself)

http://www.bitsoup.org - you have to register but it's still free
    http://www.bitenova.org
    http://www.torrentreactor.to
    http://www.piratebay.org
    http://www.torrentspy.com
    http://www.btjunkie.org
    http://www.litebay.org
    http://www.bi-torrent.com
    http://www.mininova.org
Theirs alot more if you read the entire thread

[bold]and some more can be found here[/bold]
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/174585#1261180

but I've heard about people getting over 200KB/s, as i said I'm nowhere near them. Things I've done to try and help my situation, which you can try

1)Opened my listening port, 65535. Shields up!! http://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 Tells me that port [bold]is[/bold] open.

2)Changed my max upload to 20KB/s

3)Downloaded the LVlord SP2 patch from here:-
    http://mitglied.lycos.de/lvllord/download-mirror.htm
Backup your registry if your going to use this :p

4)I have downloaded the healthiest torrents, with literally 100s of seeders. but still can't get out of the 115 region!

    5)Did a succesful NAT check http://btfaq.com/natcheck.pl

    [bold]**A MESSAGE TO TORRENT NEWBIES**[/bold]
at the start i couldn't get out of the 20s I have now improved things by 100KB/s.

Download your torrents one at a time. DO NOT RUSH
always download torrents when their at their healthiest
Don't expect miracles when the torrent has few seeders.

    HOW TO OPEN YOUR PORTS
http://www.portforward.com - Print off all the instructions that gives you.

For e.g I have a Netgear router so i type 192.168.0.1 into my broswer(Mozilla Firefox). Then type in 'admin' and 'password in the two available spaces. I followed the intrustion on default portforwarding for the Netgear DG834, and followed them instructions using my listening port 65535.

    Choosing your client-
I have been through alot of different clients. The best I've found is [bold]Bitlord v1.1[/bold] thats were i hit all my 100KB/s+ torrents,
You can find this at http://www.bitlord.com/.

The second best one in my opinion is [bold]Azureus[/bold], this is very user friendly, especially with all the plugins. Located at http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

Another useful client is [bold]Bittornado[/bold], Latest version is 0.3.12 and its homepage is http://bittornado.com/

I've also tried [bold]G3 Torrent[/bold], and I have to say i liked its interface. Can be found at http://g3torrent.sourceforge.net/ i believe the newest version is 1.01

[bold]ABC (Yet Another Bittorrent Client)[/bold], ABC is an improved client for the Bittorrent peer-to-peer file transfering, It can be downloaded from http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net/ 2.6.1 is the newest available version i think.

[bold]Bitcomet[/bold] is used by alot of people here at AD, It's homepage is http://www.bitcomet.com/

The final one I will mention is [bold]Artic torrent[/bold], as this is what i would reccommend if your computer is quite low end, because it doesn't use alot of your CPU up. this one is at http://www.int64.org/arctic.html

    Opening torrents you have downloaded

Mainly i download files that are .rar so i open and extract them using Winrar, that supports RAR, ZIP, CAB, ARJ files.

If you download a .ISO .cue .pdi .ccd or .mds file use Alcohol 102%( http://www.alcohol-soft.com/ ) or Daemon Tools to mount it or burn them using Nero. (If it is a DVD ISO you could use DVD Decrypter)

I only use BT for downloading PC GAMES(mainly ISOs) and for getting movies (Mainly in .vob format then i burn them using Nero recode)

If any wants to add to this or has any constructive crititism about this thread please PM me and i will add and change things.

If anyone needs help i will try and answer your questions a.s.a.p but you'll probably find most of your answers here http://dessent.net/btfaq/

Here is an example of what can happen if you follow my instructions,

Thats not bad going to say it only has peers and not a single seeder, that torrent was from http://www.bittorentportal.com,

Here is another decent torrent speed considering the circumstances.

Another great site that i forgot to mention earlier is http://www.araiditracker.com that a private tracker and is very useful. You have to register :p

Some good torrent sites that are currently full are http://filelist.org and http://www.torrentbytes.net/ keep checking and refering back to them to see if they are full :p

Hope this has helped you, J

entirely aggree, but for those who need quick D/Ls then their good. Torrents are good enough i just have to leave my comp on every night to get the files i want.

You don't have to upload on Newsgroups either, good advantage as my U/D ratio on most sites is really crap. due to fact that at my max is set to 20. LMAO
