Here's another one for ya - Tried recoding a Cd from my USB DVD +/- RW 8x to the Desktop and get Buffer overrun detected which automatically locks up the Nero Burning Rom conversio tool. Yet when I try the same procedure with my internal DVD drive no such problem. Never had anything like this in Ver 6. Anyone any ideas on this?
That would probably mean that the information travels too slow from your PC to your burner. You can try and increase the buffer size in Nero or for your burner if possible. Also, make sure you don't have an USB 2.0 device on a USB 1.1 port.
I really don't know about the "ideal" buffer size, but if I remember, mine was set to custom, which I think is about 80MB( I am not at home now so I can't say the exact numbers for sure). But it is also an internal burner. Also, make sure you defragment your HDD and don't multitask, and try while you burn to disconnect any other USB devices you might have.
I couldn't figure out where to adjust the buffer size with this version - disconected all my usb2 hookups ar the drive and got the same message once again: Buffer overrun detected! Program C:\Progran Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\Nero.exe A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted thw programs internal state. The program cannot safely continue and must now be terminated. I googled this and unsurprisingly find a lot of folk have exactly the same problem and still no solution and NoReply from Nero. When I did manage to copy to the Desktop via the Internal Drive the transfer took about 3 - 4 times longer than in would in Version 6 and the quality was dreadful Seems to me this version is littered with errors from the ground up. An absolute disgrace. Right now I am uninstalling tis worthless piece of merchandise. From what I can see Nero 6 has everything this piece of junk has to offer and perfoms 1000% better if not more. I am hoping someone will post soon on this forum - vis a vis legal action through International Courts soon to get their money refunded. I guess Nero aren't going to be around too much longer so better to strike while the Iron is hot.
Well, I really don't know what you are talking about "legal action through International Courts " and stuff...I have not had a problem with Nero 7.0.8.2. , or with 7.0.1.4b.And I never update the first time a version comes up, i always wait for feedback! The only time it happened it was my fault, user errors. There are som many variables- computer specs, settings, other software installed, media used, technique...And it works flawlessly for for so many users...Good luck on taking out of business Ahead Software!
I am a happy Nero 7 user, and I don't even have a fancy rig. I am running it on a 5 y.o 950 MHZ, 526 MB Ram, AMD processor, with XP Professional, no SP, and a Nec 3550A burner. No problems for me. If someone would cite me in the "International Court of Law", I would say Nero passed with flying colours!
Your comments are noted and fair enough - If you're happy with what you got. It took me 3 months to get the product installed (No support for Compressed Drives issue - It was only by revisitig an old thread here that I got the answer to that one eventually. I had the product installed for 48 hours and found that Nero Vision would not load a .wmv file without crashing, I could not copy files from CD on a USB 2 drive witout crashing. The same excersise carried out on my internal drive was both slow and poor quality I'm quite sure that if I hadn't just uninstalled it and reinstalled ver 6 I would run into equally as many problems the like of which addressed on this forum. Clearly I'm not into duplicating any more threads here if at all possible - This place is a valuable resource indeed. All I am asking for right now is a full refund of the money I shelled out for a product that is utterly useless (on my system in any case. Mines a Dell Inspiron 8600 1.5Khz machine with 2GB WinXP Pro SP2 on board Memory and flies flawlessy with all other products I have installed to date - even where SP2 issues are taken into account. The only other major problems I have had were with a Belkin Blootooth module and a sharp video cam I have. Belkin UK very dutifully replaced this module FOC and included the updated drivers etc for it. Sharp on the other hand do not hae any support for either the cam model or for the firewire connection and the windows hotfix unsurprisingly did not solve that problem either. This is possibly something I have to live with given the age of the camera and If I were to have a second system with WinXP and didn'tt patch it I'm sure it would still work fine. Nero 7 is quite a different story though - The product is only around 4 months old - Tech and customer support is diaolical. Their no refund policy also is an insult. I can well demonstrate the practically flawless version 6 installs without any problem and gives none of the problems cited above. If they had stated the truth on their website in the form of installation or pre-install guidelines that you cannot install to a compressed temp folder and there were likely to be problems with usb 2 devices and that normal urn speeds will ave quadrupled in time I would not have bothered and maybe they would have a case. I do however have transcripts from emails to and from them that support the poor quality and information in this respect. I an see i many places on the web a lot of people having exactly the same problems as I have encountered and zero in the way of helful info coming back from Nero. For those of you who are happy with the product I have no argument, but there are a great many who are having nightmare experiences and a 'slap in the face' from Nero as opposed to support (see the belkin example above). I am quite sure there are quite a few out there who would like to take this matter further and retrieve their money on the grounds of misleading information and unmerchantable quality which, in my case, is exactly what Nero have delivered with Version 7. There maybe many happy users here but please remember there are 2 sides to this one
@umagumma The moral or the story is that Nero 7 was not responsible for failing to install. It was YOUR pc's setting that cause the install problem! I do agree their support system seems a little poor. There are just too many folks here with 6.6. and 7.0 having absolutely wonderful results and I am sure you will too when you start burning again.
I am - with Version 6! The fact remains I shelled out good money for Version 7 and very muchwant it back. As for my computer setting as mentioned Version 6 installs without a hitch and works great. Guess you missed my point - particularly where there is no mention about not being able to install to a compressed folder (Which version 6 also does without any problem!)
