I was trying to record a 10 track audio CD from mp3 files (192kbps).
First, I tried to burn it to a Maxell CD-R. It goes OK until 47% exactly. The buffer then goes to zero, the burn stops, the countdown continues, reaches zero, and nothing happens. I have to force quit it, and restart, because my CD drive's LED keeps blinking and won't eject. Wasted 2-3 CD's in that.
Then, I tried to burn an Image. Not good. I had that buffer problem which the buffer goes from 0% to 100% then back to 0%, etc. Sometimes it bugs earlier, but most of the times it bugs at the same 47%.
I already uninstalled the drive (in the CD/DVD menu from MyComputer/Hardware configuration) and rebooted, so it seems not to be a DMA problem.
It's important to acknowledge that the drive still records DVD and CD DATA as usual. The problem only happens when I'm recording an Audio CD (or a Video DVD, as long as I remember).

I didn't record the logs from the CD's wasted, but I recorded this from one of the Image logs. It's also important to note that I cancelled the image burning in the middle of it. If I let it get to 47%, the program crashes and I'm unable to save a log. So I cancelled it around 30%. Here it is:

(ah, the recorder is an LG HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B)

    Hi Chamelet
    Here's a couple of suggestions.

    Nero Version: 7.0.0.0
Update Nero to the latest version - 7.5.0.9a.
Quite a few fixes since the version you are using.

    CD-ROM: <HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B>Version: A103
Burner can use a firmware update - the latest is A106.

DMA is on for all your drives so you're good there.

    Give those a go.

    Thanks!
I was thinking of doing the Nero update already but was a little lazy I guess...
But tell me, what is this firmware thing? I read the site you linked here but it says I can damage my hardware... I'm kinda new to that stuff so... I understand it is a "hardware update" thing, but what is it useful for? Recognizing new media?

You got it on the firmware. That's what the updates are usually for.
Sometimes they may unlock a feature or improve/correct an issues w/ the drive also.
It's best to keep the firmware up to date.

Not very hard and only takes a few minutes. There is some risk but very minimal. Like don't update during a thunderstorm in case the power goes out. Power needs to stay on. And don't have any blanks in the drive when updating.

There's a bunch of fixes in the Nero update so hopefully that will correct this problem.
