There's a lot of talk about which versions of Nero software are most bug free and reliable on these boards. People seem to agree that Nero Buring Rom 6.6.0.18 is good. But which versions of NeroVision and Recode are most stable and bug free? Is NerroVison 3.1.0.25 good? Is Recode 2.2.6.17 good? (b 0r c - what's the difference?)
Specifically Recode and NeroVision? And any ideas about that layer 2 fault/bug I posted about before? Thanks
I started a thread similar to this a couple down from yours. I have heard that 6.6.1.4 is buggy, so I'm downloading the other right now to see if that helps, since I installed SP2 again I had to upgrade. I think the way around this is to install Nero first, then install SP2 afterward, unless it's already included in your WinXP install. Apparently whatever version of 6 I had before wasn't compatible with SP2. Anyway I wish someone would give you input on the Recode isssue, because I have had problems but I don't know if they are isolated or widespread. I have had nothing but praise for Recode 2.x (I think I had 2.1.2.0), but when I recently upgraded to NeroVision 3.1.0.25 which I believe updated Recode, I was unable to produce VALID DVD image files. They would not play through to Menu, and the main movie was inaccessible no matter what I tried. I un-installed and installed Recode again, and was forced to upgrade Nero itself back to 6.6.1.4 (though Recode stayed at 2.1.2.0) and I am now able to produce valid images for DVD backups, however I am unable to create a DVD that is readable. I'm downloading 6.6.0.18 to see if that will solve my problem. This stuff just plain sucks because before I had to re-install all my software on my PC (I had to wipe the HDD) I had no problems backing up DVDs... and now, heh. *EDIT* What's the layer2 fault/bug?
Here is what Nero lists as the current versions of its software. Since 6x and 7x are buggy, if you see the latest version of whatever you want to use listed as the same as this, its probably buggy. Im at work, so i cant tell you what the 7x unbuggy recode and vision versions are. Only had nero site to look at, and they will list the current version only. Somewhere there is a version history on each, but i cant find it on Nero site right now.
If you search in this forum there a thread about my "Nero Recode Layer 2 problem. It may have slipped down a page or two. I think Burning Rom version 6.6.0.18 is fine, but Recode and Nerovision I'd like to know definitive (leaving aside future proof issues, just where we are now with DVDs) stable, bug-free versions of? Thanks Gwendloene and all here
I always end up saying "come on people, please help", "does anyone know" etc. LOL Can anyone offer more on this?
Exactly what further information do you require, I advised you to install Nero 6.6.0.18 which was bug free, what else?
I believe he wants further information on NeroVision and Recode, as requested in the original post. I recently tried using NeroVision 3.1.0.25 and had problems getting it to create a valid image. I use 2.1.2.0 (Recode 2.0.0.17) and trust it, but I'm sure there is probably another stable version out there, I just haven't used it. Sorry I screwed up reporting version numbers before, so many programs in the Nero family, and too many version numbers. Hopefully someone has more input, or maybe a reliable word on more current Recode/NVE versions.
