Ok. So I bought the parts for the new PC. One problem I have is the CPU cooler. I bought the Tuniq Tower 120 and I have the motherboard P55M-UD2. I cannot find out how to put this Cooler on the MB. Is there a way to do this or do I need to get another cooler. If I need another CPU cooler could you point me in the direction of a good one for overclocking that installs easily?
No need to start a new thread.. Theres 4 holes around the socket for the cpu but it wont work on that mobo. Get an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.
It depends on which Tuniq Tower 120 you have. The 120 "Universal" won't fit on an LGA1366 socket, but the 120 "Extreme" will. If you have the 120 Universal, Xplorer4 is correct: it won't fit your motherboard. The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro (Rev. 2) is a decent cooler, but nowhere near as good a cooler as a full size 120mm tower cooler if you are going to be doing any serious overclocking. If you need to purchase a new full-size cooler for your LGA1366, I would suggest something like a Noctua U12DX along with their NM-i3 Mounting Kit. I really dislike the Intel-like mounting kits that use the plastic push pins (like the Freezer Pro 7 does). The Noctua uses real nuts and bolts as I am sure other high-end coolers do. So I guess the first thing to determine is which Tuniq Tower 120 cooler you have: Universal or Extreme? Dick
Universal. I will switch it out. It is not for serious overclocking. Just to about 3.2ghz. Also, sorry about the new thread. Thanks from both of you.
k7, he has an LGA1156 board, not 1366. Just thought I'd correct you there. Try a Thermalright MUX-120 for LGA1156 if you want to keep a full-size tower cooler with your new system.
Thanks for the correction. I got him confused with a fellow in another thread who was building an i7-920. Mia culpa. Dick
