I've read a few reviews, tried to find as much information as possible, and since it's my first time building a computer, I just wanted to ask you for help. My friend told me about this site, and told me you were all incredibly skilled, so I want to give it a shot.

I think I understand how to put it all together, I just want to ask some advice for the components.

The computer is going to be used for video editing, music, downloads, work and some games, nothing major such as Crysis.

I'm going to list all the components, and I'd really like to ask you to rate them on 10, and tell me if it's a good choice. All help is greatly appreciated. :)

I'm sorry for asking for too much, just want to be extra sure, and again, thanks to all who answered. :)

    first, whats your budget?

do you need lightscribe on your dvd burner? if not, you can get a different one for about 30USD.

    i would get this HDD,

as for the case, yours already comes with a power supply, but the 650TX is more than enough and is a lot better. so i would change the case for something like antec 900, cool master 690, ect.

for the cpu, personally i would recommend getting a q6600, quad core 2.4ghz, and if you want, OC it, push it to 3.0ghz. not saying the wolfdale is bad though.

for the motherboard, if your not using SLI, two NVIDIA graphic cards, then dont get a motherboard that supports it. i would get this if your only using one video card. but i think this motherboard, you need different RAM because it doesnt support 800Mhz FBS speed, somebody correct me if im wrong.

for the video card, i guess that would be fine if your doing minimal stuff, but if you can try get an HD4850.

sorry i didnt rate your list of components, but i just gave some suggestions and im short on time right now. i hope this helps

Hey, thanks alot for answering. I agree that I should change the things you have said, but I'm not too sure about the mobo. And yes, I was thinking about going for the Quad Core 2.4GHz, but after reading some reviews, it told me that it wouldn't support some games, so I went against it, but it's going to be more powerful which is a plus I guess. Could somebody just explain to me what SLI means? I searched and found too much information that just confused me.

Could somebody find me another mobo?

BTW, my budget is about 1000$. I'm not a major gamer, nor am I a crazy video-editor, I'm just looking for a computer that will do all those things, on a somewhat good quality build.

basically, SLI means your using two video cards at once, rather than only use one. I for one dont use SLI because usually SLI, or Crossfire for ATI cards, are only beneficial if you have large screen resolutions. if your using like 1680x1050 or something, then one card should be sufficient. also, there a lot of powerful single slot graphic cards, like the HD4870 x2 and the nVidia 280GTX

you can use the suggested one i gave you before, but i never had any personal experience with it, i bought the older version because of the price budget it was on. it received more reviews and got a pretty good rating. not the best in the market, but it gets the job done.

perhaps someone else will post better motherboards.
