building a new computer need help!!!

    So i know to start you'll need a case with a Power Supply, Motherboard ( I know some motherboards come with integrated video and most have integrated sound and network. Should i get one that has this?? ),Processor, Memory (RAM), Hard Drive and a Video Card.

    I'm going to be using it for alot of burning and downloading (blu-ray etc..),I want the fastest and most reliable motherboard, processor, memory and hard drive. i see alot of stuff is on newegg.     You need a case, and some come with power supplies, but they are usualy trash if you get an affordable case.

    Onboard video is a cheap solution, but is usualy inferior to a cheap PCI-E video card. Onboard video also usualy steals memory from main system memory, rather than having it's own fast memory.

    That is a great CPU (I have to upgrade AGAIN!) It should come with a cooler, but you might want to get a better one.

    CPU Cooling - Lots of options, from cheap & noisy to expensive & silent, even water or phase-change cooling is an option if you want to overclock.

    Hard Drive - I like seagate & hitachi, many like WD, Samsungs are not very reliable in my experience. The best hard drive solution is not a hard drive, but a RAID array with multiple hard drives. The mainboard I sugjested will let you use 4 identical hard drives as one double-fast, double-capacity, double-reliability drive...with SATA ports left over for two optical drives. The most reliable consumer hard drive I have found is the Seagate barracudda ES series, but they cost a bit more than the non-ES barracuddas.

    "burning and downloading (blu-ray etc..)," - for this, I would go with four 1TB Drives in a raid 10 array. You can go with four 1.5TB drives, but booting to a GPT drive (MBR limited to 2TB) can be problematic.

    Also, although the mainboard comes with onboard 6-channel raid, it is "software raid" and is not as fast as "hardware raid" if your budget is large & you want even larger storage, you might need to get an add-on raid card.

    Ok so it looks like I have a good start..You chose the exact blue-ray burner I was going to get..But if I dont want to run raid hows the hard drive that I picked?? , Can you recommend some quiet cpu colling, a good case and power supplies thanks...

    The WD10EADS is slower, but more power efficient and much quieter. It is still a reasonably good performer though.

    The HD4670 is much more powerful. The ICEQ cooler is probably quieter too, and certainly a better cooler. Do you need it though? Unless you play games you may never notice the difference. For HD video, a 4650 is all that's required, but I usually recommend the 4670 anyway due to the minimal price difference (there are cheaper HD4670s than that ICEQ out there) and more powerful 3D games performance which can be later called upon if needed.

    i was just finalizing some of my purchases and i noticed that the 4670 was much better and if I had other needs in the future then this would be a good fit. what do you mean by this statement Does that mean their better and cheaper?? (there are cheaper HD4670s than that ICEQ out there) and more powerful 3D games performance which can be later called upon if needed.

    It means, there's even less than a $25 price difference between the HD4650 and HD4670 in general:

    Note this one is $10 cheaper than the HD4670 you chose and is just as fast, it just has a smaller cooler (which is fine as the HD4670 doesn't get very hot).

    Because the HD4650 and HD4670 are so similar in price, and the HD4670 is a significantly better product, I usually tell people to buy the HD4670 even if they don't think they need it, just in case they will later, it's not much extra to spend.

    makes sense now. now i have some options with the 4670's, i think i like the other one i found very minimal price differences here. thanks
