Hi, I'm going to order the parts through newegg, I want

    [939-pin] AMD® Athlon-64 X2 3800+ CPU
    Geforce 6800XT 256MB PCI express
    A 120 GB HD
ASUS VENTO 3600 Green Steel/Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

The rest of the parts I'm not really sure, I'd like 1 GB memory. What Motherboard would you guys recommend and the type of memory to get, this is the first PC i'm going to be building so i'm not very knowledgable. any reccomendations? I'm trying to go as cheap as possible but also have good performance so mid-range stuff i guess

    Some examples...

This one above is one of the lower priced MB's but I would also choose based on reviews.

I would also visit this thread, http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/63/235934 and look through it as well since many members discussed their setups.

Newegg.com has most of what you would need, just pick out what fits those needs. :)

why not wait a couple of months until the M2 processors are out, which support ddr2 ram, i think this will be much faster.

I've decided to get the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium ATX AMD Motherboard. I'm trying to decide the memory to get, whats the difference between DDR and DDR2?

I'm also stuck on the 3D card, which would you go with the geforce 6800 GS or the geforce 6800 XT?
