    Hi,

Can somebody please help. I have an ISO image of a pc game on my hard disk.I was hoping I could run the game from this but to no avail. I need to burn it to dvd.

Can ISO images be burned to DVD using Nero?

Also, the image is 6GB in hard disk. Is there anyway to get it onto a DVD as I know they only hold around 4.5GB?

    Thanks

    GF

I know Nero will burn an .ISO but I dont think you can shrink it down since its a game, an ISO is just a container to store all the files in and I dont think you shrink games. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think you are looking for something to mount that ISO in a virtual drive and run it. Something like Daemon Tools I think. I've never used this or done it cause I'm not much of a gamer (though I was hooked on Doom 3 for the longest...) Google virtual drives/ mount .iso and I think you will see what I mean.

Nero has its own virtual drive:

Daemon tools is also a virtual drive, and I think is free.

As for fitting the game onto a DVD, I am thinking you have to burn it to a DL, as I cannot see shrinking a game like Deadrum said.
For more infor, research the Play Sation back-up guides.

    OK thanks guys,

I have now successfully mounted the ISO image to a virtual drive on my hard drive. I have installed the game sucessfully but there's a problem. When I try to play the single player game (as opposed to the multi-player across the net), the game looks for a DVD to be inserted into my "D:/" drive which is my dvd drive.

I presume this is some kind of mapping issue,as I want the software to check my virtual drive instead of my dvd drive.

    any suggestions?

Edved, one you can't burn a 6Gb ISO onto a 4.7Gb disc. ISO's cannot be shrunk.. Second you cannot burn an ISO to DVD, unless your just creating a Data Disc which would not boot up as the ISO image.

In regards to your recent problem, are there any other image files or is the entire game on one ISO? Also it sounds like the Virtual Drive you mounted the image on is not emulating it properly. What game is this were talking about?

I would forget Nero and use Daemon Tools, it's free and it's far better at emulating all copy protection systems.

You might not want to make general statements like that. Maybe not shrink .ISO of GAMES but DVD Shrink easily shrinks an .ISO of a DVD file. DVD Decrypter, ImgBurn, Nero Burning Rom and others will burn an .ISO to disc.

Nope go with Daemon Tools. Although from the sounds of it your probably not reading the nfo file that came with the game.

I have mounted my ISO to a virtual drive now.The multi-player works fine as you would expect. But the single player won't work. In most single player games,it requires the disk be inserted but as the I have a virtual drive, this surely isn't the problem. I am getting the following error:
    iw3sp.exe has stopped working!

    Any ideas?

Is this a mapping error or what?
