2 Nero versions are being used and there is a better version of Nero 6 that isn't buggy. I don't know if yours is buggy but it's a good indication that if you're having problems why not have the best version of Nero 6 as you can get! Update your Nero to version 6.6.1.15a
    Here's how:

Before udating to 6.6.1.15a save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero6-tools-utilities.html
then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot!

update to Nero 6.6.1.15a, install Package 1 and Package 2 only:
    http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero6-update.php
reboot and you're good to go!

Remember to follow all the instructions of Nero cleaning tools! It's important, unless you like have 2 versions of Nero on your computer!
News flash...... you are using the worst media that there is! Sorry to inform you about this. CMC MAGs are terrible and have known to cause writing errors and such for many years. They outsource their product and therefore you can't rely on quality or compatibility even in a full spindle of disks! So what once worked for you (CMC MAGs used to use RICHOJPN as a manufacturer, which produced decent DVDs) now might not work at all! The rule here is to use Made in Japan disks! They are the best (Taiyo Yuden)... next best are Verbatim. Here is a media guide that will show you that CMC MAGs suck big time. And why use crappy media when you can use the best media at the same price as crappy media:

Your Lite-On is a good DVD burner so you can burn higher than 4x! Just make sure you're using good media!

Interestingly enough, the 'crappy' Imation-R disks I used here are the only ones out of four different brands including Verbatum, that will work in my VHS to DVD burner. I have been using them for four years with no problem and many VHS transfers. I give the home movies to my elderly mother who watches them very frequently. Don't know what else I could ask for in a disk. Of course this has little to do with the current problem at hand, except to say that I don't believe the disk is an issue.

which brings me to the old saying, "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink!"

ok...... did you follow the other suggestions that I laid out for you in the above reply!? just make a comment about disks?

Let's see here. Newbie asks for help. Newbie gets tried and true advice from Afterdawn Addict. Newbie trashes sound proven advice = FAIL.

Get with it and follow IHoe's advice.

Peshtigo..........same old story...... the newbies never want to listen to good advise because "it always worked before" so it can't be right. No biggie. Down the road hopefully this person will finally listen and try the advice given and then hit themselves over the head and say, "I could have had a V8!" (do you remember that old commercial?)

Although the condescending comments suggest that you guys are young and impatient, I do appreciate your suggestions and will get around to following those directions when the opportunity allows. It is not high on my priority list at the moment, but I will get to it.
I also conjecture that my statement about the disks may have sounded condescending to you, for which I apologize. I merely wanted you to know that I had tried Vertbatum and two other brands and none but the Imation would work in the DVR. And none of those have given me a problem after using over a hundred of them in the past three years. Thanks

when it comes to media you have to understand that some brands outsource their production to different manufactures so the consistency of quality changes from time to time! So what worked for you for 3 yrs may not work now. Other brands of media change manufactures more often and even manufactures have different factories that have different quality control so it is possible to get a spindle of the same brand and even from the same manufacturer and still have different quality which can raise havoc with compatibility! For this reason I only buy Taiyo Yuden. They don't outsource. They are their own manufactures and their consistency of quality and compatibility are premium! they are the best and why not use the best if it cost the same price as the others? this way if you have problems you can actually say, "it's not the media being used!" Just my opinion but proven with Taiyo Yuden!

    Not condescending...just brutally honest.
Not young and impatient...just old and cynical.
And I speak only for myself.
