Where did your firmware come from? Is this a Dell or Fujitsu PC or a different brand?

You are almost out of RAM when you burn. No multitasking and I would buy some RAM as it's very cheap right now.

Try a different brand of media such as Verbatim and clean your drive.

    Thanks.

Firmware - It's an Acer PC the firmware was recommended elsewhere as a fix to avoid these problems, but same errors in burning seen

RAM - yeah agreed, I've had 1gb on order for a few days and it's in post now. Ought to help. I don't actively multi task when buring i.e leave pc alone and don't have loads of applciations open. But I'll try closing a few of the background ones and burning then.

Media - I had media problems a while back and swapped to using Sony - which seemed to get a good review and worked well, no problems until recently. Is the suggestion re Verbatim just to try different media for compatibility or do you mean that even Sony fall into the lower quality camp?

The RAM and applications used haven't altered signficantly since I was able to burn with no issues.

It's really down to brand loyalty. I use Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden exclusively and avoid the rest. Although I don't have problems burning other brands, (memorex, sony, fuji, maxell) not everyone has the same joyous experience :) Sony aren't bad, but they aren't of the same caliber of the Verbs and TYs IMHO. TY actually make some of the Sony +R DVD's and if you can find some of them I'd snatch them up, but yours are true Sony dyed discs....like I said, not terrible, but not the best either.
