Edit out your Nero SN starts with 1A22 or some body will steal your licence number:
    Very little resources here.

Burn speed is too high at 8x slow it down to not more than 4x.
Set your Target size to 4300 so your burn does not get too close to the edge of the disc

    Others will pipe in shortly.

    @slosten
1st thing you should do is edit your post and remove the serial # - don't want someone else using it! It begins w/ 1A.
Your firmware needs to be updated. Here's a link for the latest update:
    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1917
Wow - need to free up some memory. No multi tasking while burning and try and shut down some processes to give this a boost.
This is good media. A firmware update may help this.
Reduce your target size to 4360.
    Slow it down to 4x.
Try these and let us know how it turns.

editted to add- forgot one thing
The latest version of Nero 6 is 6.6.0.16. Update to that one.

These pages are only for advanced users. Bad flashing could destroy your drive definitively. Read carefully the installation notes of your firmware before you upgrade. The Firmware Page and the drive manufacturer can't be responsable on REMEMBER: This is at your own risk!!!!

Do I really need the firmware thingy? Since I am new to this and not that knowledgeable is this safe for me to do? Also there are 4 different downloads there, do I need them all or just one?

And how do I reduce target size?

Firmware helps your burner read and write media - it 'teaches' it new things(media) as they come up. So yes it does help. It really isn't that hard. You basically download an .exe file, make sure you are not running any programs and that there are no discs in the the drive.
Then you open the .exe file it flashes the new info to your drive and you reboot.
I just checked Sony's site and they have a later version than Firmware Page - BYX5:
Here's a link to that one:
    http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/firmware.htm#710
Scroll down the page until you see your drive - DRU-710A

Yeah I downloaded that one. However, I was just messing around with settings and looking into the options of DVD Shrink. I realized that I could copy DVD's completly and 100% quality if I set it to DVD-9 however this particular DVD takes up 7,866 MB which is almost twice what I can do. I have a burner that allows dual-layer burning (which is what I think I need to be able to burn that much content). I guess my question is what kind of discs would I need to fit all those, what would be the best brand and size and stuff to go with and where could I get them?

Also is this process more in-depth and harder to do than compressing the files?

Since I have a couple hundred discs to work with to figure this out I was going to try setting the max amount size to 4360 as suggested above after clicking on backup I got this pop-up

Does this affect my burning process with what I choose here?

That pop up is fine - just click okay and it will remove the region protection- doesn't affect the burning.
As for doing DVD 9 you'll need dual layer discs - I'd stick with the single layer ones for now - much cheaper. Shrink will compress the file to fit on the single layer. Or if you don't want all the extras - just movie - click re-author and pick the movie only. Usually no compression is needed.
Here's some guides to help you out:
    http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/index.html
    http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/tutorial007.html
    Post back your results.
