hi can any one help for the last two years ive been burning vcd in nero 6 but over the last week or so evry time i start to burn nero goes for about 30 secs then syas burn failed. please help
lets start with a few basics... what burner do you use? what media do you use? what speeds are you burning at? is the firmware up to date? is nero up to date? how fast are you bunring? whats the disk limit you are burning at? help me help you... do you have an error log to post?

Please remove your serial #, it begins with 1A23 and is at the top of your post. You barely have any memory left to do anything, free up some resources and no multitasking. *slap on wrist* Nero is a little behind, current version is 6.6.0.18 and can be found here: http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php You need packets 1 and 2, omit the InCD packet. Your burner doesnt' like your media. DMA needs to be on for all drives, fix via this guide: http://www.burstcopy.com/dma/xp/ As far as DVD's go CMC discs are at the bottom of the heap, but I'm not sure about CD-R's. If this drive came in a compaq, it is one update behind, current version is 2.01....you can get the update if needed here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=533
Close down all progs when you are burning, that is all unnecessary progs. Also go to pen and paper icon on top right of page and edit out your serial no. and then hit save changes. I would also recommend you spend a few $$$ and install another stick of RAM...at least 256.

you know, i looked at your log, and then compared them side by side....... really, you have changed nothing... you have been pointed out what is wrong, but have not done anything to help yourself.. you nero version IS still outdated.. your DMA settings ARE still set to off you STILL have little to no ram (memory) you MUST be using a lot of programs while doing your burn, 80% cpu usage is just way too high. why do yout try to fix a few of those items like told to before and then see what happens... otherwise, your not helping yourself, and quite frankly...wasting our time. not trying to be mean, but you need to help on your end. go here to update nero http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php do this to turn DMA on... 1. Under DEVICE MANAGER, open IDE ATA/ATAPI CONTROLLERS. 2. On the PRIMARY and SECONDARY IDE CHANNELS, open up their PROPERTIES display. 3. In PROPERTIES click on the ADVANCED SETTINGS tab. 4. Make sure that TRANSFER MODES is set to DMA IF AVAILABLE. and not PIO. If any changes were made, reboot your computer. for your memory, wel, buy another stick of ram, but if you cant, try yto free up as much space as possible, defrag the pc, dump any junk you dont need, close all programs while using nero, anti-virus, fire-walls, screensavers, unplug from the net if on broadband.. try these.. AND I MEAN DO THEM... then get back. also, you need to delete you serial # from the top... starts with 1A23 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
hiya i have did every thing i was told my dma says its on i try without any prog running ive used nero 7 without success so i went back to the older version as for my memory when i look in my hard drive it says i have still 18 gb surly thats plenty awaiting your reply as for the serail no i cant seem to delete it

To be able to burn successfully you need at least 512 meg of RAM, you only have 256meg so you will always strike problems. As DDP has suggested, purchase another 256meg stick of RAM and install, that will then give you the required 512 megs. This will most certainly help.
