Hi. Edit out your Nero program serial number beginning 1A...... It appears in several places in what you posted. In the Recode Fit to Target menu, select Custom instead of DVD5 and enter 4350 or 4400 for the size. This avoids burning all the way to the outer edge of the disk where problems sometime occurs. You should upgrade to Nero 6.6.0.18. Run the Nero 6 Clean Tool first. Be sure to write down your serial number first. http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/us/Nero_6_CleanTool.html Nero 6.6.0.18 is here (2 packages): Package 1: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe Package 2: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe I didn't see a burn speed listed. A good rule of thumb is half or less the rated speed of the media.
yeah figured it out sorry! I've tried all the suggestions (except installing a newer versino of nero) and nothing worked. Surely it cant just the burning software thats causing the problem?? it just seems more likely to me its the burner - I've has at least 10 diff types of dvd-r media in here and never had a problem. I may try another programme to see if I get similar results. Cheers Steve
Hello again. Post your Nero History log. It provides much better information. It is located in this path: Program Files > Ahead > Nero > NeroHistory The log is divided into sections, one for each of the last several burns. Each section begins with a Nero Burning ROM header followed by your name and Nero program serial number. [bold]Be sure to omit your name and serial number from the post.[/bold] Post the section that shows one of these failed burns. The log will allow for seeing if there are conflicting drivers or other problems. Believe it or not, simply changing versions of Nero is often all it takes. The only really stable version of Nero 6 is 6.6.0.18. Version 6.3 is very old. Some burners just don't like some media. Ritek isn't one of my favorites. Good are Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and Fuji and Sony labeled as Made in Japan.

Hi. This must be getting old for you. We need to really start troubleshooting to see if the problem is OS, application software, burner, or media. In Recode, choose the Image Recorder instead of the DVD burner as the output target/device and create a Nero nrg file (i.e., an ISO image file). If that is successfully created by Recode, burn that ISO image file with DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn -- your choice. Use the 4X burn speed. http://www.imgburn.com http://www.filehippo.com/download_dvd_decrypter If the burn is successful, we eliminate two possible causes, the burner and the media.
