I've read most of the info on the forums and the guides, but I still get burn failures EVERY TIME I try to burn a DVD. It happens with Nero, or when I try to burn directly from DVD Shrink. Here is the log: Windows 2000 5.0 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.71 (0002), size=45056 bytes, created 11/20/2005 10:48:21 PM ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 6:35:34 PM Nero Version: 6.6.0.18 Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 18e (Nero Express) Recorder: <DVDRW IDE 16X> Version: A07R - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.18 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <TP2954F YBV651W >Version: 2.0B - HA 3 TA 0 - 6.6.0.18 Adapter driver: <vaxscsi> HA 3 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : ST360021A atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : WDC WD1200JB-00REA0 atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off CdRomPeripheral : DVDRW IDE 16X atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : Maxtor 91826U4 FA58 Ultra Port 2 ID 1 DMA: Off DiskPeripheral : IOMEGA ZIP 100 12.A Ultra Port 2 ID 2 DMA: Off CdRomPeripheral : TP2954F YBV651W 2.0B vaxscsi Port 3 ID 0 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === DVDRW IDE 16X F: CDRom0 TP2954F YBV651W J: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 1535MB (1572336kB) Free physical memory: 986MB (1010340kB) Memory in use : 35 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 28.10.2006 UDF/ISO compilation 3:45:39 PM #1 Phase 112 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation started 3:45:39 PM #2 Phase 114 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 3:45:39 PM #3 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6359 UDF document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 UDF Mode : UDF/ISO bridge UDF Revision : 1.02 UDF Partition Type : physical ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet :FALSE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : FALSE Allow more than 255 characters in path : FALSE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 3:45:39 PM #4 Phase 111 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files sorted 3:45:39 PM #5 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 3:45:39 PM #6 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer DVDRW IDE 16X running 3:45:39 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 3:45:39 PM #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 3:45:39 PM #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3233 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 3:46:17 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 270 Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB) Last address to be written: 1968239 (437:23.14, 3844MB) 3:46:17 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 282 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 3:46:17 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2483 Recorder: DVDRW IDE 16X, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: RITEKF - 1 Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193 3:46:17 PM #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 448 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= Disc not writeable. Latest firmware is A187, from here http://www.btc.com.tw/drivers/zip/dvd_dual/IDE1016_A187&0056_MCU.EXE Not top quality discs, try Verbatim or Sony (made in Japan) Your burner doesnt recognise your discs, hopefully firmware update will fix. You have Roxio installed, it clashes with Nero, to remove, run this zapper http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml Slow burn to 4X
Thanks for the fast response, [bold]Gwendolin[/bold]. I couldn't install the firmware because I got an application error: The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be read. I have no idea what this means, but I'm sure it's not good.
