OK I have a Plextor 708A dvd burner, and I love it. I use Verbatim DVD+R media. I have made many dvd back-ups with my system so far. I have Dvd Shrink 3.1 , and DVD decrypter , and DVD x COPY Platinum on this system. I use dvd x copy the most, I have never used the others, and i think i might have to now. This is my problem I bought Star Wars DVDs on ebay, The origanals, they are great copys. But now i want to make back-ups of them just in cause something happens to the other ones. But when i went to make a copy, it would read it, but it would not make a copy. If you can help i would like it.
I am using DVD X copy platinum to try and burn the movies. And it will go all the way to the end, and tell me to insert blank dvd media, and i do. Then it does nothing at all. So it does all the steps, but the last one. So the error would be that it will not write it to the dvd+r, and i dont know why. For i use it all the time, and it works just fine. But now i dont know what it is. Could it be that they are copys? Could the person that made them put a code on it?
I would recommend reading the guides on using shrink. It is a great program for what you are trying to do, and burning with either DVD Decrypter or Nero is automatic. So it will do everything at once like x copy. I remember when I used to use x copy plat (I still own it, just don't use it that much anymore), I used to get quite a few errors like the one's you're getting. Once I switched to using shrink, I never had another one. Try it out, it's worth it!
hey all, I'm quite often amazed by how difficult a job some people make of decrypting and burning backup dvd's. If I want to make an exact copy of a dvd including all the menu's and extras then I use dvd decrypter to rip it and then burn it with 'pinnacle instant copy 8'. It doesn't matter how big the movie is, pinnacle will compress it and burn it producing a flawless copy everytime. If I only want the main movie I usually use 'dvd shrink' in re-author mode to rip and compress and either nero or pinnacle to burn. Instant copy 8 is a huge improvement over version 7 as it now burns as it's processing, in much the same way as nero recode does. As I said before I started waffling, two programs is all you need to make perfect backups, unless that's just too boring for you of course. lol.
If the discs you bought are copies of the originals, then they should already be decrypted and compressed therefore no need for Decrypter, Shrink or Xcrappy. Try doing a standard disc to disc copy with Nero or whatever burning app you have making sure to make a temp on the hard drive (no on-the-fly). Let us know if this works
