Is it possible to burn multiple games on one DVD-R and choosing the game you want to play? If not whats a good mini DVD-R and how do you fit bigger games on there like Resident Evil 4?
Use Viper Multi Boot Iso Maker to create discs with multiple games on them. Keep in mind that this will only work with ViperGC chips, qoob chips, and GCOS (1.5, maybe 1.4 as well). It won't work with XenoGC, DuoQ, or pretty much anything else really. Good mini DVD-Rs are the Ritek RiDATA mini DVD-Rs. Here's what I'm talking about. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817132372 As for RE4, you'll just have to use two discs for that. Capcom didn't just use two discs for the hell of it.
Just any Ridata mini DVD's work good? Is newegg the cheapest place to buy? I was gonna dremel my case to fit DVD-R but I don't want to pay alot for a ViperGC. That and it seems like a waste of a DVD-R when only a few games barely use half a DVD-R. So would mini DVD-R's be the better option instead of hacking at my GC case?
Here's the thing. Even if you used normal DVD-Rs, you won't be able to use the whole disc anyway. The GameCube can only read up to 1.4GB, regardless of the casing or disc. The only reason to use a full size disc is to use cheaper media, but mini DVD-Rs are actually affordable nowadays so there's no reason not to use them. So yes, using mini DVD-Rs is the better option and Newegg is the best place to get them if you live in the US. If you don't, you may want to take a look at Supermediastore.com or Meritline. Those sites charge qutie a bit for shipping though, so keep that in mind. And don't use just any RiDATA mini DVDs. Use the one I recommended as those are the best ones you can get. I use them and have yet to burn a coaster.
by the time I pay $14 for 20 and shipping I can take $10 or little more and get 50pk. Do you know of any that come in 25pk at least that work good?
Never really shopped around for larger packs since I never really planned on using more than twenty anyway. Newegg 25 pack RiDATA mini DVD-R 50 pack RiDATA mini DVD-R Meritline http://meritline.com/ritek-mini-dvd-r-media-4x.html
With the mini-dvd's does that make it easier without having to buy the case mod or will case mod still be needed since the discs are smaller? Thanks Flandrel
You can use the original case with miniDVD-R media. As long as you use the one I linked to, you should be alright. Don't use the cheaply manufactured stuff available in stores.
Nah cheapy stuff sucks. lol. Done been down that road. I was wondering though about the size. I bought a gamecube couple years ago and have been dying to mod it and stuff to backup my games so kids won't tear them up, but also interested in doing homebrew. That sounds very interesting. What are some good dvd-r's full size (4.7gb) that are really good for my PS2, xbox, gamecube etc if I was to get the case mod for the Gamecube? But thank you for the help. You definitely answered my question. Flandrel
