I am currently trying to burn Star Trek 4 with dvd decrypter. what happens is I get a "cant burn sectors such and such" I lost the log when I cancelled the burn so I can't put it up on the forum. I just burned a previous dvd prior to this one so I know its not the burner,or medium. Any help will be appreciated.
@Shedder1 May be the media - some media is hit or miss - some will burn and some won't. You could also have a few bad ones in the spindle. So w/o the log here's some questions: What brand are you using and the rated burn speed of it? What speed are you burning at? What's the make and model of your burner? Is your firmware on the burner current?
What format are you burning to and are you using any other software? There was nothing special about any of the Star Trek releases that would cause problems. I have backups of the entire collection. You don't have to complete the burn to save the log. It would be helpful to know the exact error message. If you haven't already, try processing the files through Shrink and then burn with Decrypter using the Shrink option "Save to ISO and burn with DVD Decrypter".
Here are answers to some questions. memorex dvd +r discs rated speed is 8x but burns at like .4 x burner is a sony dvd rw dru-800a I will update firmware I run dvd fab then shrink iso and burn with decrypter.
Before we go farther, go into the Control Panel to Device Manager and check the DVD drive to see if it is in DMA on. If not, uninstall the Channel the drive is on, usually the Secondary Channel and reboot, then check again to see if it's in DMA. DMA being off can account for such slow speeds. Download the free DVD Identifier and tell us what the code is on the DVD. If CMC, a lot of people have said harsh things about them. Maybe not your problem, but since you said Memorex... Let us know how the DMA situation stands.
DMA was on and the medium was CMC what suggestions do you have for medium to use or what are the top 3 in your opinion?
Shedder1 The top three media are Taiyo, Verbatim which is what I prefer and then maxell. Memorex is a very bad media to use and it seems everyone has nothing but trouble with them. I have used sony when nothing else is out there to use. The first an second are by far the best out there. Good luck.....
Sony, Verbatim, and TY are my 3 favorite brands. What's strange is that they can sometimes be the same media. I prefer the 8X +R. When you can get Made In Japan on the label, you're best going with those with brand names. Well now we at least know that DMA isn't causing your slowdown. Just to see if it's the software, let's try something different. Go to http://www.slysoft.com/ and download the trials for AnyDVD and CloneDVD 2. Use the ripper in AnyDVD to rip your source to the hard drive. Then open the files ripped to the hard drive in CloneDVD 2 and do the backup.
Dogman The made in Japan Sony 8X +R is Taiyo Yuden (TY). The Taiwanese 8X +R made by Sony is just as good. For me, Sony is the one I'm using most. I've just finished 50 MIT and about 100 MIJ without a coaster. TY also manufactures media for Verbatim, Fuji, and a bunch of other brands. The in house manufacturer for Verbatim is Mitsubishi, MCC. MCC manufactures for other brands as well. Naturally we know what we're getting when we buy branded TY. It's a good idea to get DVD Identifier and ID your media when you make a purchase so you know what you're using. Just going by brand doesn't always tell you.
hey there wat's up my friend.i have a very serrious problem and it has me very frustrated and angry.i have a lite on dvd+rw/cd+rw sohw 1697s series i think drive. i've had it for about a month or so now. it has never burnted a dvd from i've had it. it burns music cd's very well without any problem. whenever i try to burn a dvd, it creates the image perfectly well, but when it gets half way into the writing(actually burning) process, a message comes up saying there was an error. the last error nero 7 (which i use) told me that there was a power calibration error, which i have no idea what that is. i've also tried using dvd x copy express and it gives basically the same problem at the same place in the writing process. i've tried copying the dvd file to my hard disk and burning from there, but it is the same result i'm getting. please help me out with this one. i desperately need to start backing up my music and movies so help as fast as you can.
Since you're using Nero, it will make it easier if you post your problem in the Nero section along with a burn log. I keep forgetting the location of the log. Just ask in the Nero section and they should be able to help you. Those logs supply a lot of data that helps with diagnosing problems.
I had another error come up and this time I copied so i could put it up on the board. I have had other dvds burn successfully just prior to this dvd. This one is national treasure. @Shedder1 From what this log shows it's the CMC discs and burn speed set to max that are more than likely your culprits. Poorer quality can be hit or miss - some burn some don't. Then we have possible playback/reripping issues if not now more than likely in the future. (Unfortunately I've been there done that So let's try setting the burn speed to 4x if you can - the log looks like the speeds for this disc is 6x & 8x though. If not 4x than 6x. Your best bet though is to switch the media to the ones mentioned above. You've got a good drive - made by LiteOn so let's try some quality media with it.
