I have an AOPEN DVD DL Burner connected to my notebook using a USB 2.0 case. I have no problem buring 4.7G DVDs for the last 3 months. I have a large data file 8.2G which I need to burn. But I got burn process failed half way through. I want to know the reason before I wasted another DL DVD media. Can anyone help me to under this error report and point me to any action before I burn again. A portion of your nero log is missing, try and post the entire log. In the mean time, based in the info shown: Your using an old version of nero (6.6.0.6), if you plan on autoburning with shrink, update to version 6.6.0.18. First, write down your serial# and remove nero from your system using the general cleantool found here: clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/General_CleanTool.html Then install version 6.6.0.18 and re-enter the serial#, here are the links to version 6.6.0.18 packages. Package1 http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe Package2 http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe Your burner's firmware is one update behind at version 1020, you should update to version 1030 as these updates add additional media compatibility and possible drive enhancements. Get version the 1030 update here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.php Just enter your drives model# in the search field, click search, then click on the 1030 choice to download the file, run the file and follow the instructions for updating. Here: "Last possible write address on media: 4173823 (927:30.73, 8151MB) Last address to be written: 4015743 (892:23.18, 7843MB) " You might want to consider having shrink or nero (recode) reduce the file size a bit to keep away from the disk's outer edge. I personally suggest you use DVDdecrypter or Imgburn to burn an ISO image to disk when using dual layer media, they are better at it than nero is at this time. Just have DVDshrink create an ISO image file that you can burn to disk using DVDdecrypter or image burn (I prefer to burn manually, but you can set shrink to autoburn the image file to disk using DVDdecrypter as long as it's installed on your system). You can get ImgBurn @ imgburn.com
Thanks John|123, I follow your link to download the clean tool and Nero 6.6.0.18. I installed the software 6.6.0.18 and tried again. For some reason I am getting a time out on the firmware link so the firmware is not updated yet. Will do it later. I tried to burn again and still get an error. I asked Nero to burn with 1X. However it still burn with 2.4X which is the spec of the DVD media. Here is the full report. Get the firmware update here: http://download.aopen.com.tw/Default.aspx?sDropDownCategory=Firmware&Website=US look for the DUW1616/ARR update I see you have INCD installed, I would uninstall it since it can cause problems and is useless unless you do alot of formatting. I see here: "Insert empty disc to write to. (Medium in drive: Unknown. Medium required by compilation: DVD +R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R DL.)" I appears that the drive is having a problem with the media you're using, the firmware update might take care of this, if not try another brand recommended by the drives manufacturer. You're seeing a speed of 2.4x because thats more than likely the default, 1x may not be an option. You're burner is capable of burning at 4x speed for dl media, stick to 2.4x.
