This is my first log using this version of Nero7 so at this stage I cannot make comment.

    Firmware is up to date

I dont know these discs, try Verbatim or Sony (made in japan)

The only thing I can see is that you still have version 6 of Nero still installed, run this clean tool, http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html

    Try burning at 4X

This is 16x media try burning it a little faster. And as Gwen stated get some better media, such as Verbatim. The fw on this burner has not been updated in almost a year and I doubt it is recognizing those disks. I have a NEC 1300a with older fw and there is no support left for this drive, it does recognize -R 16x Verbatims but does not recoginize Fuji -R 16x.

Hi, I'll try getting new media, but I uninstalled Nero and then tried using DVD decryptor. This is the message it gave me. Would this also be caused by crappy media? Thanks for your responses.

Try another brand of media. Also, with Bourne Identity it has newer protection on it, you would be better to rip it first with DVDFab Decrypter and then run it through Shrink :)

    Thanks a lot Arniebear,

I tried running through DVD FabDecrypter with the media that I tried before and the same thing happened. I'm going to try to get new media tonight and see if that works tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

    Hi Arniebear,

I don't know if you'll still be checking this thread, but I got new media (Sony DVD+R) and it worked wonderfully! By the way, what is the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R? Just wondering if that had anything to do with the Sony working since before I was using DVD-R.

Anyways, thanks a lot for all the help. I couldn't believe how helpful this forum is, I downloaded some guides and I followed them and things worked, when I got the right media, that is.

Glad it worked out for you and you are burning again. DVD-R is a format that is standard for the industry, and is the most compatible media for standalone players. There are some standalone that will not play +R format so -R will work. However, if you are having no problems with them keep on using the +R media, it is a better format in my opinion. There are burners that will booktype/bitset +R media to DVD-Rom making it compatible with all standalones. However, NEC burner will not do this without using hacked firmware, which will work but it voids any warranty on a burner. You can read some more here on bitsetting.

    http://www.k-probe.com/kprobe-bitsetting-booktype.php

    Happy burning to you :)
