when i burn with dvdshrink it burns at speed 4x but i have a 16x dvd rom? thought it was meant to burn at 16x? do i have to set something?
You mean dvd burner i hope.A rom isnt going to be able to burn much. You will need to get media that is higher .I gather the media you are using is 4x, try buying 8x media. If that doesnt work and your burner is still only burning 8x media at 4x speed you will need to tweak the functions of your burner so that it will recognize 8x media. Its not recommended to burn at the higher speeds as the higher the spin, the more durable the disc will have to be otherwise errors like freezes and pixalation start to creep into your burns. Also dont burn to the edge of the disc as this is where the ink and dye is most uneven let us know how you go andmerr
yeah it's a dvd burner 16x. but as you said, 4x is best to get a good burn. the program is probably set to burn at that speed for that reason. i did a speed test on my dvd burner, it got up to 30x.
@ gwendoline: theres no problem with that happening, a 16x dvd burner is only equivalent in theory to that of a 52 x cd burner @ chance: have you tried putting 8x media in it , but are finding that the 8x is only burning at 4x
Hi there, I think burning DVD at 16X and CD-R at 52x are sales pitch for salesman I had a friend who told me, man I burn my CD-R at 52x. I said I burned mine at 16x or 24x MAX, and that it would probably take the same amount of time ! And we prooved it ! Burned 1 at 52x... PC was so busy, the burner had to wait for the PC to refill the buffer to continue. So the timeline was 52x ...wait...wait...wait...wait...52x.... then we burned one at 24x 24x 24x 24x 24x 24x 24x 24x clean 24x burn, and took about the same amount of time. Now for DVD media. I have lots of background tasks running, and NO I do no wish to turn them all off to burn 1 DVD I burned 1 DVD at 4x once, and end results was an average burn speed of about 3.1x because my PC was so busy, it could not push enought data for the burner to burn at 4x constantly. So if people are trying to burn at 12x and 16x, #1 I say there's asking for trouble, and it might take a long time (Same as x8 or x4) cause the PC won't push enought data for a constant 12x or 16x burn ! My 2 cents...
