I have a Lite-On DVDRW SOHW 1633s. My questions is
when I burn a 16xspeed DVD the max speed that I get
is 8xspeed. Why is that? Can anybody give some info.
on how to change the speed? Thanks PrLumbee

What program are you using to burn, it is recommended to burn at around 4X to eliminate any errors.

What discs are your using that may be part of the problem.
Use Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or made in Japan Sony or Fuji (these later 2 if made in Japan are usually made by Taiyo)
Good drives like yours w/ good + R media should be good at burning at 8x at least (as long as the media supports it).
BUT only for +R - the max for -R on your drive is 8x so that may be it too.

Your drives firmware also needs to up to date to handle the 'newer' 16x media. The latest for yours is BSOY. To check your version go to Nero ToolKit>Info Tool>drive tab. A field for the firmware version will give you your current version. Here's a link for a new one if needed:
