I am using DVD+R cds....Do I have to have any special setting on my burning program set, to be able to watch them on the TV? It won't work on my Dvd on my TV and it won't work on one of my family members DVD for their tv. Any help would truely be appreciated....THANKS !!!!!!!!!

Might just be a compatability problem with your dvd player with the tv. dvd-r's are more compatable than dvd+r's on older units. What model is your hp dvdrw? You may be able to booktype the dvd+r media dvd-rom to make them much more compatable. Also what brand dvd+r's are you useing? Please don't say memorex. Use this free utility and let me know what the media code is of your discs. http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

Okay, I'm trying to answer to both posters...My Burner is a Hp DVD 630E External burner. I am using Sony DVD+R cds....Recommended by salesperson...they told me don't use the DVD-R...Me being clueless, bought what they told me to. My DVD player for the TV is an Emerson.According to the book for that cds that are DVD+R and DVD+RW can be played back.....I am using Nero burning and I also tried the HP software that came with the burner Record Now...( now don't laugh, maybe thats not even the name of the program) but thats whats on my desktop...Can the problem be...that I have to have a certain setting that tells me to set the program for cds to be played back (example) car cd, cd player, DVD Tv...I can't seem to find anything for settings if that would be the case. Meaning I have to tell it what I want to do with the cd when I'm done...Please don't think I'm nuts (I am) but I usually can figure things out...but this has me stumped....
Sorry if I'm not giving u enough info...THANKS

That burner should be a rebadged benq which is capable of booktyping dvd+r media to dvd-rom. You can download the free booktype manager utility here. http://www.benq.us/ServiceAndSupport/Drivers/drivers.cfm?product=647 Or you can try some good quality dvd-r media (more compatible). Maxell, Fuji, or Sony should be ok from local store. I would try booktyping them to dvd-rom first and if that doesn't work exchange them for some -r's.

I downloaded the Free booktype manger utility you told me to download, and on that a box came up. In the driver section there are two choices HL-DT-STCD GCR-8481B 1.02 and then HP DVD writer 630c which is mine....I can't change it to that it stays on the first choice I wrote. Then on Media Statis, I can't select Set to DVD ROM TYPE.The box is lightened it won't let me select it. I know I'm a lost cause....Sorry I'm so much trouble...I will understand if u give up on this...Thanks....
