hi, yes, i'm a newbie. i've tried searching for info on burning dvds greater than 4.7 Gb to dvd-rws and i haven't found what i'm looking for. i was thinking it's possible to use dvd decrypter to create an iso of the dvd to the HDD, then write the iso to dvd format on to the HDD, then use nero to burn the dvd format file onto 2 dvd-rws. i'm not sure how to do the iso to dvd format step. is it possible? i saw a lot of people use dvdshrink for dvds larger than 4.7 Gb but doesn't that cause the dvd to lose quality? is there an easier way to do this that i haven't thought of?
    thanks ahead of time,
    scott

i ripped the dvd to my desktop using dvd decrypter, then followed the guide and was able to split it into 2, but it took quite a long time. i don't remember ever using the file ripped to my desktop using dvd decrypter when using dvd shrink. why is this first step necessary then? also, when splitting the dvd using dvd shrink it asked me to insert a blank disk into my burner, so i did, but this was not the burned dvd i wanted... just a wasted dvd-r disk that displayed the beginning screen of the movie, nothing else. the final process i burned each half of the dvd onto a single layer dvd-r using nero. it seems like a few of the steps i did were not necessary... especially the dvd decrypter and 1st writing to dvd-r disk parts. can anyone shed some light on my confusion?
    thanks,
    scott

Well since you didn't mention what dvd you were trying to rip, I told you to use dvd decrypter first so you don't have trouble with any new encryptions.
If its an older dvd, then you can just use dvd shrink, and split it using the guide I posted earlier.
